You gonna change your sig until the rig's at maximum performance then? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,067 ✭✭✭L31mr0d

I think his sig is actually jinxing him ;) counting your eggs before they've hatched and all that.

Seriously though, sounds like the usual build, all things considered its not too bad. How long burn in are you going to give it before you start throttling your clocks?

yeay.. i got mine too today ... it was a nice way to wake up to :D but when i tryed to install windows it crashed.. then i noticed how badly the cd was cratched :( going to pick up a friends cd soon.... ill have working and overclocked by friday.... at least my pc lights up blue again.. and sounds like a tornado cause of the gpu

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

Congrats on getting it up and running. let us know how it gets on while overclocked :)

Thank god you finally got the E6600. Let us know how you get on with overclocking it. By the way, there is a few on here starting to recieve their E6600.. just wondering where did ye order from.
I think you got yours from Overclockers, pog, but did anyone recieve their cpu from Komplett yet?

I am just after recieving my hard drive, dvd burner, memory and psu today from Komplett, with a x1900xt and Abit mobo on the way from Overclockers, hopefully arriving near the end of the week. All i have left now is to order the cpu and a case.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

i dont mean to piss on your parade pog, but i just showed a mate of mine the link to your 3dmark 05 score. and he gave me the link to his comparision. i would consider his base system worse then yours. but hes only 160 points behind you. using a single core cpu. have a look

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1987297

    Why is this ?

he has not overclocked at all

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

He's got a 512mb gpu, i only got 256. Gpu score makes up bout 95% of 3dmark total score. Look again, i demolish his cpu score. I checked & i'm on par with others of the same specs. finished buildin, gonna start to oc after i get some sleep.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

so my 1gb should be good then, i never really likes 3dmarks tbh. not really real world. still when you oc im sure you will decimate him :)

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

I was just looking on Anandtech and the E6400 overclocked to 2.88ghz is amazing! It even beats the X6800 in some rendering tests:)

Im thinking of going Conroe now because I wanted to get another gig of ram and a X2 3800, but if im going to I might as well go for conroe..

I got my e6600 from komplett last tuesday. Working away from home this week, so I have only had a few hours to play with the computer :)

It's not a 1 Gig card though, each gpu can only use 512megs. It doesn't add up like that.

Wow. At 320fsb (from 266fsb stock) & still @ stock voltages. :D Totally stable. Ran dual core prime 95 (20 mins) Sisoft Sandra burn in test & 3dmark06. Cant get this thing 2 show errors. Amazing chip to clock.
Ah well, back to work. :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 862 ✭✭✭Psycopat

leave prime 95 runnin longer than 20 mins tbh....

i got one and it demolishes sli enabled games, 60 fps on quake 4 and prey going down to 50 in only a few points both at full settings, gets a nice score in 3dmark 06 too <3 the card 560 euro for 2 slightly underclocked 7900GTX still only using 1 pci-e slot

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

yeah thats what attracted me to them, hopefully in a few weeks i can afford another card and a better motherboard. but i might hang on for getting them both untill xmas maybe

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

Its the dual core prime 95 i ran for 20mins. runs prime 95 twice, 1 on each core. Gets much higher temps than prime 95. 4/5' hotter and 100% cpu usage. Just ran it again for 40 mins (3 complete runs) & no errors. temp max is at 53' under load. 32 idle. i'll push some more now.

@ PogMoThoin thats an amazing chip and its so cheap too, what HSF you using?

Looks like you got a good E6600, alot of ppl have got stuck at much lower freq's then you. congrats once again.

Now stop making me jelous :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

Zalman CNPS9500 cooler. Temps maxin at 50' full load. Didn't get to fully test 355fsb (yawn, up all nite). have a feeling it needs more power. Gonna test again now & meke sure i'm completely stable before i go any further.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

ahh feck stable, we want to see 4ghz by the end of today. so chop chop !

    More benchies:

    3DMark06: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=436207
    3DMark05: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2161694

    improvin on super-pi scores:
    355fsbyh3.th.jpg
    355fsb32meb8.th.jpg

Didn't pass 3.2 Ghz yet but confident its stable. Had to up volts a fair bit to get stable. Temps maxin at 54' under load (33-34' idle), so i dunno how much further i can go. gonna have to take side off case to push further.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,133 ✭✭✭Explosive_Cornflake

Mine runs quite hot, but it's on stock. It'll be a few weeks before I get my XP 120 onto it. Actually, I must bring my rig up to dublin at the weekend, so I'll get to mess with it during the week.

Stil @ 355. Had visitors so had 2 take a break & had a quick game of FEAR. serious quick loadin times with the raptor. i'll try 360 later.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

At 360 stable but temp is @ 58' max load. Any idea how high i can let this chip run. Don't think i'll be goin much higher.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

How accurate are the temps with speedfan? Can't find this mobo on the website and just goin by the temps its giving. have it back at default now cos i'm afraid. Bios says 43' idle but speedfan says 34'. Someone advise. Its showin 58' max load. Can i trust these temps?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,067 ✭✭✭L31mr0d

which CPU temp are you reading, the Diode or the Socket. There is usually about 10'c in the difference. The socket should be lower than the Diode as it is underneath the die not directly in it. Although i've found my diode seems to be lower than my socket when its idle, then it jumps above the temp of the socket when on full load... weird. Check into it though, nice benchies

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

Right just checked again & at default settings bios says cpu temp is at 31'.
In windows speedfan says its at 27' idle and 37' full load. Fan is set to full-on. Reseated cpu fan last nite 2 see if i could get temps down. gonna put it back to 360fsb now and check temps. was hitting 58' yesterday @ 360fsb.

    Bios gives these temps:
    System temp: 36
    Cpu temp: 31
    Nb temp: 48

    Speed fan temps:
Temp 1 (i think its system): idle 35 load 35
    Temp 2 (core): idle 27 load 37
    Temp 3 (NB): idle 47 load 48
    Temp 4 (Raptor): 24
    Temp 4 (dont know): 29 doesn't move

Why is there a difference between bios & speedfan temps?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

I have always found bios temps to be way off the mark tbh. And afaik and remember 95c is the threshhold for the conroe. Ive seen many overclockers hitting 65-72c and its completly stable. To be safe id throw in a few tornado case fans in to circulate more air through the case. but id do a 24hour prime ( dual core version ) @360fsb to be safe.

Right, back @ 360 fsb. Slight drop in temps since reseating cooler. maxin at 54'. Only ran prime95 for few mins just to check temps. gonna run dual core test now to see if i'm stable.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

Ok, ran dual core cpu & ram test for half hr, temps reachin 64. Ran cpu test for 1 hr, temps hittin 65. Pretty stable. Speedfan temps are right. set bios to shutdown @ 60' and it worked. gonna try 365.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,630 ✭✭✭gline

what speed is this currently 100% stable at?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

Help, I've hit a wall @ 370fsb. Have it stable (1hr+half dual core prime95 stress test) @ 365 with 1.48 vcore. NB still at 1.6v. Temps hitting 66' with case open. Cant post @ 370. Tried upping nb to 1.65v and vcore to 1.49v and still cant get in2 windows. Dram is at 2.1v & memory is at 533mhz @ 4-5-4-15.
Everything else is at default except pci-e which is at 101. What do i try now. Any ideas?

Gline, i think its 100% stable at 365 but i only ran dual core prime 95 for hour and half without fails. gonna run it overnight 2nite 2 make sure. Temps hittin 70' with case closed, gonna have to get better case fan. Serious fast cpu.

Dfi bios is very oc'er friendly. Gives you steps to up voltages. There's 1 setting i'm not sure bout, its called "CPU VTT Voltage" and is at 1.2v. Anyone know what this is?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

loosen up then ram timings to 5-5-5-15 up the vcore to 1.50 , and nb to 1.65 hit the dram to 2.3/2.2

Got to 370fsb with vcore @ 1.5v but temps maxin at 68' with case open. 2hrs dual core prime stable. Dunno if i should push more or not.
    The settings as follows.
    Dram: 2.25v
    Vcore: 1.5v
    Nb: 1.65v
    Pcie Clock 101
    Sata clock 100

Should i keep going or what? I get nervous goin over 65'. I've heard of people stable @ 72'. Dunno what the limit on conroe is.
Gonna run some benchies & go back on default cos missis has fire lit & house is heatin up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

if i was you i would stop now.

See how stable it is for a week or two. and maybe invest in some watercooling before you continue.

I would feel rather guilty if i said yeah go for 380 and you post back saying thanks, my cpu just exploded :(

Best bet watercool the cpu and chipset. But while your waiting i think its time to overclock that graphics card.

Not great TBH, far too high for stock, so I think something is wrong, so I won't say :)
I'll have the weekend to mess around with it now anyway.
