Ok Im wondering of someone can advise.

My abs are developing nicely and are starting to get a defined shape to them. I however CANNOT shake lower belly fat. I just dont know what to do. I do over a 1000 crunches/leg ups a week and I just cant shake it.

    Does anyone have any tips?

You can not remove fat from your belly by just doing crunches/leg ups. Doing these will just build the muscle under the fat. The best way to loose fat is by carido and diet. Others here will be able to advise you better

This type of fat is normally a hormonal thing....and Sauce was spot on...all the sit ups in the world won't help it.

What is you diet like....as it will most likely be a dietary change that will help you at this stage.

I had a feeling you were going to say that.... I guess I'll have to kiss Haagan Daaz goodbye :( .

By the way has anyone heard of or tried diindolymethane? Its an estrogen meatbolism formula.

Metrovelvet, I have the same problem as you. There's a book called - now it's not a very complimentary title - Fat Around The Middle by Marilyn Glenville PhD. It's specifically for women who collect fat just on the stomach - even though they might be quite skinny everywhere else. My mum's the same (it's often genetic). She bought the book and there are some great tips in it.
She has also written Mastering Cortisol: Stop Your Body's Stress Hormone from Making You Fat Around the Middle. Don't know if it's the same book as the other one. Anyway, maybe one or both might be worth ordering. It's such a bloody nuisance accumulating fat in that area only! First of all it's dangerous and increases the risk of diabetes. And there are more superficial reasons too. I have really skinny legs and absolutely no ass but my stomach (which isn't huge or anything, but there's still a bit extra there and it's totally disproportionate to the rest of me) means I have to buy pants with a wider waist and they just sag around my legs and ass - damn annoying!

That is annoying. I have a big ass [its definitely not flat anyway] and the ordeal of buying trousers is just unreal. I think I may have to start buying J-Lo's line. :(

Thanks for the book recommendations! Damn that cortisol.

I have been in the same boat in the past and am in it again at the moment. Chubby stomach, but the rest of my body is quite slim. I don't think it is genetic for me, it's just plain laziness, i.e. lack of sport over several months. I don't have high metabolism, so basically I need to shift this fat. IN the past I shifted it through situps and jogging (probably the best way to a washboard stomach).

I'm hoping the same will work this time around, but it will probably last longer as I've a few kilos to shift...:(

By the way, on diet matters, which contains less fat: semi skimmed UHT milk or the fresh milk variety?

Personally would not touch the white stuff - what hormone do they feed cows to make them produce more milk? Yes and its also in the milk and finally its the hormone that causes weight gain?

Whatever you do, DO NOT purchase any of those "Fat Burning Products" that you see on television ads to help resolve this problem!

A friend of mine has been using these for six months and was very happy with her success --- but now she is having Heart Troubles -- her heart now beats erratically daily or weekly - if she coughs loudly it stops the rhythm and returns to normal - her doctor says that it is the type of rhythm where if she becomes unable to make it stop, it could actually stop beating altogether!

All this because she wanted a flat belly! Not worth it!

Some of them are good, some are bad, some have sides, some don't, some people are hypocondriacs......anything that people are going to use should be thoroughly researched before hand, and used only to back up a steady workout routine and strict diet plan, that they already know is working.

Ha, snap. I wear a 30" waist trousers and then I have this flabby belly. I used to have the j-lo ass as well but thats kinda dropped so I guess its just a matter of sticking at it, even if it is in your genes to be inclined towards keeping weight on the stomach or whatever area it may be in your case. Its annoying though, when I flex my stomach I have this great and clearly defined six pack, but when I just let hang loose, I have the start of a six pack at the top, and the rest descends into loose skin/fat. :D

Just keep at it....mine is annoying but to be fair, while progress is slow, there definately is progress and I'm sure given time I'll reach my goals.
