I'm assuming you got bored. Cardio bores the hell out of me sometimes too. I cant stand the cross trainer and the bike so I just jog/run instead with my ipod on, pick a spot on the wall and just keep going. The time flies and you feel great.

You need to mix up your program every once in a while. Not necessarily get a new program...change your habits.

Example being a few people I know change their workouts every 3 or 4 weeks for one week at a time. So instead of doing 12 reps of X weight they would o 10 sets of 10 at a lower weight. Or try taking a week where you lift light weights instead of the usual...just do fat burning intensity work instead of cardio intensity. After a week of that you will be raring to plough into the heavier stuff and your resolve is renewed.

Either way your still exercising and your keeping it interesting my not making it a chore.

I Use a lot of NLP are Neuro associative conditinoning. That;s just a fancy way of saying I associate words and actions to certain feelings and mental states and by using those words and actions later it triggers those states. You can adapt any media for this - quick example I'm a huge kurt Angle fan - his work ethic, intensity and dedication and training commitment during his olympic and professional career is nothign short of ostounding.

There's a video complilation of his to the tune Clocks which I find incredibly motivating. So any time I need to mentally focus and push myself I listen to that song or his intro theme. A classic exapmle for many is Rocky. Those movies motivate and pump a hell of a lot. Find the things that inspire you top push yourself harder - associate a word or movement to them and perform or say it when you need a boost. Works everytime.

Have you considered doing some classes. Its very hard to drop out of a class half way through due to lack of motivation as you probably won't want to look like a quitter.

I got a bit bored of cardio there recently so I am taking up spinning classes instead because the people around you try to compete and I love competing.

Spinning is great fun.....the music and the instructor will make the class!

Plus there is something nice about that big group effort.....you can have ten people in a spinning class and just have a much better group atmosphere than those same 10 people on treadmills.

I would also suggest some kind of martial art.....the classes are fun and very involved.

Yeah exactly, that's why I am going to take it up on a weekly basis. Dragan, to maintain @ 10% bodyfat, how much cardio are we talking about doing here? I haven't done any the past week just because I have been a bit tired and not sleeping as well but intend on starting it back up on Sunday/Monday every day again.

Speaking of martial art, I also signed up to do MMA in September which looks savage. Can't wait for that!

FOr maintanence levels you should look more at calories in than anything else.

It can be very difficult to match your calories exactly to your needs each day....but this is not such a bad thing.

I would suggest than any day you cannot do cardio you simply eat that little bit less, i would sacrifice carbs for preference on non cardio days.

If you need to go a week or two without doing cardio for any reason ( busy, injury etc ) then being careful with the diet can be a great thing....as long as you are not overeating there should be no reason to add weight!

Once you have reached a certain body level it is possible to maitain that with NO cardio at all, once your diet is tapped down tight.

Personally i recommed some cardio all the time, as it affords you more calories, and eating is fun and it also has other health benefits beyond calorie burning.

In short, if you can't do cardio just ease back on the food a small bit and you should have nothing to worry about!! :)
