Lung Capacity

Hey lads, trying to get a higher lung capacity. I've being training for the last few months and think i'm doing fine apart from always losing my breath. I have ashma and i do smoke, but very little and i don't smoke at all hours before exercising. i.e > I'd have 2-3 cigarettes in the evening and wouldn't smoke again until the next days evening after running/gym/swimming and repeat ...

Anyways the fags are on the way out, i've cut down from a healthy 20 jp blue a day to 2-3 silk cut ultra in the evenings (some evenings i don't smoke at all) and i don't smoke at all over the weekends, and will be dropping them altogeather soon anyways. I know they aren't exactly a help but i seriously doubt if they are the main problem as i always had short breath even before i started smoking.

Anyways, anyone with info/experience/etc of exercising/training with asthma and an idea on how to improve the situation ?

    Thanks.

Swimming is a great excersie for cardio and lung capacity!

Obviously give up the fags completely. Other than that, cardiovascular training tends to imporve things, and if you don't already practice abdominal breathing then start. Just google it if you don't know what it is & you'll find loads of pages on it, essentially the idea is that your belly moves out instead of in when you inhale and the opposite when you exhale.
