The other nite (Thurs) while droppin off a fare in Lucan in a big estate, first left, second right, next left etc...I got lost on the way out....Tried my best to get out....Next minute I had a 05 Mondeo up my arse and got arrested ,cuffed, taken to the station, body search, and held for 3 hrs in a cell. I was accused of being a drug delivery taxi, they pulled my car to bits in a search and also accused me of seeking out a prostitute...As a married man with kids this has my head wrecked....I am good...they have promised to search my house....What will my wife think ??
Its the Seeking out a prostitute accusation that worries me, Nothing else to hide and they found nothing....Told the wife and she said " They would not arrest you for nothing" I am totally innocent of anything....Can the ****ers totally destroy my life on a whim ??

If it wasnt you, no offence intended, but in the absence of a search button......were you the taxi man who asked opionion on AH a while back as to whether he shouuld turn in the kilo of coke some idiot left in the back of the car when he was fcuked?

    Ida kept it, but whathaveya,

If you were this driver and you were caught , Im not ever even using boards to boast about not paying the tv licence nevermind anything else.

Theyve "promised" to search your gaff? If this is the curently policy the dealers must be having the time of their lives :D

"ere Anto, do us a favour. I was arrestedn for a foyh in qurkeys, the lads sa they know ya. Myond if i stash me 6 oz in your sistrs gaff? Its just that if they come round and find it after saturday im dead"

    ahh. the lucan gardai.
they haunted me for years, back when i was a teenager.
they were convinced i was a junkie. (long hair and looked very emaciated.)
i was constantly searched by them. they never found anything and eventually gave up.

just let them search your house. as you said, you have nothing to hide.

don't know what to tell you about the protitute accusation though.

I've no legal expertise but its seems on the face of it unless the've evidence of something, what can they do. Other than create evidence. If the situation is exactly as you described, you'll have a record of your fares etc. They would have to prove who you met, and a pattern to your fares which won't exist. Basically get a solicitor and start preparing to sue the for wrongful arrest etc.

Assuming it is exactly as you described.

That said I know people who've had run ins with Lucan cops before. You'd think theres enough real crime to deal with.

If its the lucan housing estate I think it is, it's a nightmare to get out of.

oh no thats an absolute bastard u have to just tell the missus and be 100% open cos if u aren't u just seem suspicious

surely u could start legal proceeding there no ????

Where did you pick up the fare? Do you know the house where you dropped the fare? Was the customer dodgy? Can they corroborate why you were there, not that you should have to do this. Did they charge you with anything? They won't get a warrant to search your house based on you driving around a housing estate ffs. Unless you have some serious form OP, which I doubt because they would have blocked you getting the taxi licence in the first place.

Didnt know there were many of these plying there trade. I heard that they used to work alot at the Superquinn N4 junction but not were you were.

To be honset the odds of you getting pulled over by a Lucan cop these days are gettin slimer and slimer. Since Lucan and Blanc were merged the Lucan squad car is over in the Blanc area most of the time these days.

    Its either there or Texaco

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,541 ✭✭✭irlrobins

Kick up a ****ing sh1t-storm, contact your solicitor, get him/her to contact them on your behalf. Do not take that from the gardai. What right have they to accuse you of such, and how can they possibly have come to the conclusion that you were doing/proposing to do those acts? Total bull.

    The simple answer.
Tell your wife *exactly* what happened and what they accused you of.
Go to your solicitor and tell him / her *exactly* what happened.

If you are innocent then they will have no proof.
So, let your solicitor deal with the "accusations" and threatened search of your property.

Very unusual for them to pull over a taxi driver without some sort of suspicion, and its up to them to "prove" your guilt.

I've yet to meet a taxi driver who has'nt, knowingly or otherwise, had a hooker as a fare.

Something not right about this. If they geunuinely did suspect you were a drugs courier they would hardly say

"Right we'll be around to search your house at about threeish tomorrow afternoon. Plenty of time to get the gear out of the house, make sure the kettle's on and can you get those Kimberley biscuits with the jam in the middle? I love them."

I've lived in LUcan all my life and them new estates can be confusing. I remember the day when all that area was just fields and all the Lucan gardai had to worry about was the odd car being stolen.

Or not...Gardai will get pretty peeved I'd imagine.

Go home. Tell your wife, be 100% honest. Tell the Gardaí they are more than welcome to search your home. If they do they do, but it could just be scare tactics. If they do, chances are they'll search your computer too (Hello Inspector!) so if you've anything on there...

If you've done nothing wrong I doubt you have anything to worry about.

Sorry, but the more peeved they are the better. They arent the ****ing gestapo, the quicker they realise this the better. Power tripping mother****ers.

Tightly pack 1kg packages of flour in cling film. Do about 30 of them and put them in a suitcase under the kids bed. That'll get them excited for a bit.:)

Tbh, not every Garda is on a power trip, obviously, there are those that let power go to their head and all like.

Why bother pissing them off if you don't have to. They have enough people doing that already. It'll probably cause more trouble down the line.
