Elvis or the Beatles?

Okay, I'll probably get yelled at for not putting this in a music thread, but this is a much deeper question...

I have found that there are really two kinds of people in the world. Those who love Elvis and those who love The Beatles. Rarely can anybody love both equally the same.

And it says a lot about a person's personality as to which they prefer.

So? Which are you? an Elvis Person or a Beatles Person?

    :p

    Edit: Spell Czechs! Ugh!!! ;)

    PS - The Beatles!

PPS - i've found there are two types of people in the world... people who post in the correct forum and people who don't... which are you?! :D

Oh, goodness! That would totally derail the perception then, because if I had to make that choice it would be The Stones! (Elvis or Beatles? - Beatles!)

Sorry, Basquille, as I said, it is not necessarily a MUSIC question. More of a personality question. It's one or the other.

Well then what does it say about a person if they like Elvis or the Beatles, except their music preference. I would be a Beatles person, what does that mean?

I wouldnt compare them together. Both did a lot of new for their genre and time. Id go with the beatles though. Sgt Peppers really got into my head.

I think this needs a poll...

    Elvis (the early years) ftw.
I do a wicked Elvis impression me.

    Okay, personality wise-
I have found in asking this question through the years (it is a fun question that sparks good discussions!)... And mind you, this is just an opinion...

Elvis people tend to be a bit more goal oriented, tend to make more money at their jobs. Tend to be more family oriented. They handle a crisis better than a Beatles Person in the moment of the crisis but dwell on it later ("I should have done that better.").

Beatles people tend to be a bit more artistic, and more romantic in nature. They tend to handle a crisis in a more emotional manner than an Elvis person. Although they may not be successful in carreer, they are happy with the direction they are headed in.

Neither is a "Bad" personality, I just feel there is a balance. And yes, I am sure there are some who totally fall away from those descriptions. No matter. be happy with who you are!:D

I guess there's more than 2 types of people then, coz i don't like either. Why i don't like em i have my reasons but for sure i believe that The Beatles are seriously OVERRATED... why they are still dicussed as being like the gods of music i honestly do not know :(

    Elvis ftw.

It's hard to compare them really; Elvis was a show man and an entertainer who happened to have an unbelievable voice.

The beatles were a band doing there own thing but I find them very hit and miss, some great songs and an equal amount of tripe as well tbh.

It depends on my mood whether or not I can listen to the beatles but my elvis DVDs get airtime regardless of my mood. I haven't really got a favourite elvis decade tbh, they were all different but all stood up on their own merits. No doubt 50's elvis was the rock and roll showman and then the 68 comeback showed a different side to him and the Vegas tour in 70 was class. even fat elvis stood out and proved that he wasn’t just a shaky leg pretender, but even when he could no longer move and was sweating like a pig on stage his powerful voice shone through. I still get goose bumps every time I see fat washed up Elvis sing my way live on stage right at the end of his career.

I'll have to vote for Salt and Vinegar crisps, as they are the only thing on my mind and cos this should be in the music forum.

I like a little Elvis, but the Beatles were much better imo....
The Beatles had better songs and they wrote nearly all of them.....whereas Elvis is only credited with co-writing around a dozen or so...

Both legends in their own right and they are 100 times better than the stones or the kinks (and I love the kinks)....even the who are not as good and I think the Who are legends!

Indeed, even though I do like a bit of Elvis for some mindless background noise now and then.

John, or Paul? That's the burning question...

Arguably John for me, even though the guy was 60% arsehole, 40% genius, and was led around by the nose for the last 16 years of his life by a talentless controlling little Japanese woman, he had a dark perspective that Mc Cartney, for all his airy ballads, and the brilliance of Yesterday, could never reach.

In essence they were the perfect songwriting duo, especially given the fact that they worked alone most of the time, and only brought things together in the studio, practically.

Yes, it was a deleted scene in "Pulp Fiction" where Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) said the following:
"My theory is that when it comes to important subjects, there's only two ways a person can answer. For example, there's two kinds of people in this world, Elvis people and Beatles people. Now Beatles people can like Elvis. And Elvis people can like the Beatles. But nobody likes them both equally. Somewhere you have to make a choice. And that choice tells me who you are."

Oh, that’s an easy one for me. One of my ultimate all-time fav albums is Venus And Mars. Paul was SO ahead of his time musically and lyrically on that one! I never tire of it. Lennon was a bit too artsy for me and Yoko bugs the life out of me!

Here’s a question for you Elvis choosers:
Do you like cats? I have found that those Elvis people I have met in person have no use for cats. Same here?
