Anyone know which supplements I should take. creatine, protein mass gain etc.

im 6" 1 87 kilos. I want to be heavier and stronger for rugby.
i go to the gym 3 times a week for about 2hrs wach session. and do all the necessary excersises.

im wondering what people think of creatine ive heard its not that safe to take. there is also a thing called kre-alkalyne its in the workoutworld same basically as creatine.

also anyone know which store offers good honest advice i went to Tony Quinn the other day, but couldnt help thinking what they were saying was 100% truthful.

There's a lot of bad press about creatine which is unfounded just go with a microinized one and you should be fine.

All you really need supplement wise, is a good multi-vitamin , a zinc supplement and maybe protein if your diet is lacking.

Post up your complete diet and we'll take a look-see

Mickk's runs the supplement store on camden street next to flannerys and if you are on the northside Jon's store is phibsboro opposite Dr Quirky's as far as i know. Either of these will be able to give you good advise face to face. oh ye and don't worry about tony quinn's as they probably where talking some ****e.

But just remember supplements are just that and you should try and get most of your nutrients from whole foods so check to make sure your diet is in check first

like the others said, diet is first and foremost for weight gain i.e. you need to eat a sh**load of food, then worry about supps. (Hence the name supplement- they're designed as an addition to your diet, not a replacement).

Creatine is perfectly safe, it's a compound found naturally int he body, and taken in supplement can help supply energy to muscle cells (helping you lift heavier and therefore get bigger/ stronger). It was demonised uneccesarily by the media for some reason in the 90's- some of the usual rubbish that if something is that effective it must be bad.

Pay no heed to the Tony Quinn brigade, another load of rubbish, don't know arses from elbows.

Post your diet and what kind of lifting you do. And read the stickies ;)

The main media noise against creatine came out in the 90's when a couple of wrestlers and NFL players died after having heart attacks and various other cardio arrests. When they found they were taking creatine and in the NFL guys case it was a relatively new addition to the diet, the media layed the blame there. Basically lets blame what we dont understand! What they failed to mention was that these guys were also popping steriods like they were smarties and in subsequent results showed a huge intake of various anabolic drugs killed them.

No case of anything bad has ever been concretly linked with Creatine.

p.s. man i really gotta run spell checker more often!

If you're around the North side pop into the shop in Phibsboro, if your south side give Mickk a shout. You'll be able to see the kind of stuff on offer.

Waltor, i'm just curious, do all of your first responses need to contain some ill attempt at humour? or is it a genetic defect?

Well, it's not really an ill attempt as generally I'm actually very good at it believe it or not, weh weh.
I better stop now though, I guess. Need to start actually helping people and not giving them abuse. Sowwy!

I haven't ever juiced. Wouldn't really see the need as I'm only 21. I haven't seen much, as I don't really LOOK out for it. But I can say this, in a certain gym in Galway where I train during college year I could get my hands on, at the very least, dbol and other orals. Not sure about injectibles as I never really inquire. You can definitely get it though, if you ask around.
Guys on UK Forums are always willing to oblige too.

As Emmet said all you should really need is a multi vitamen and a hell alot of protein and food. I dont even take creatine and have went from 82.5kg's to 91kg's in 3 months. The days im training i take some ZMA before bed and a tribulus cap, on days off i just eat loads of good food and lots of protein. Since i have high potencey mutli vits and ZMA i dont need to take Zinc seperatley.
