At the moment I do 10 mins warmup on the bike level 5 manual,

and then 20 mins level four on a stair walker eliptical machine

20 mins on thread mill @6.5km/hr and then 10 mins on a stepper

    2/3 times a week
also I do a class mixed with tai chi yoga and pilates once a week
    Its bodybalance class in Westwood!
My main aim is too loose weight! Been grand so far! just want more of a challege and to maybe speed the loss through excercise any suggestions:D

man, i seem to post this a lot.

For proper weight loss you need to do proper work. Weights work is great for girls looking to lose some weight, and the health benefits are great.

    Which Westwood you in, btw?

    Post your diet.

Also, do you enjoy doing particular exercises/exercising at a particular intensity? What I mean by that is, are you only exercising for fat loss?

OP take a look at your diet. Keeping your metabolism ticking over while burning calories will make the weight fall off you.

    Clontarf!
I cut down on the junk food severly! My job give's free fruit so i've two pices for breakfast and I eat salad mostly at lunch! I stick to a balanced meal in the evening its mostly just portian control I've to worry about!
I have to cut down on alcohol that would mainly be my problem!
I like the eliptical training and the bodybalance classes as I've noticed a difference in my flexibilty!

Having been on Lipotrim since May 29th and lost 3 stone 4 lbs, I can vouch that this is a much easier way to lose weight.

Well to be honest, it's normally best change and do new things, or else you can stay doing the same thing over and over and nothing will really change.

Besides, if your going to apply this limit then there is only so much advice anyone here can give.

My advice : try something new, even if you THINK you won't like it. You'd never know. ;)

Besides making a complete eejit of myself it was grand. You have to be a little thick skinned for the first few classes as everyone else knows the moves and you are about 2 steps behind flaying around like Quasimodo being attacked by invisible bees!

I dont have the concentration treshold to stay on a tread mill for more than 20 mins before I start losing my mind. I find the interaction in the classes - and theres not much - provides relief form the boredom. The pain I feel usually about halfway through any given class also manages to keep me focoused!

Im going to try the climbing wall as an 11stone treat for myself.

    yes, yes they are.

CSG, if you want to lose weight quicker, and more importanly look better when the weight has gone, do weight training. You will not bulk up/ look like Arnie/ become a muscle-bound freak.

What you will do is speed your resting metabolic rate (you burn more calories even when you're doing nothing), improve all-over 'toning', decrease your risk of osteoperosis, reduce injury risk, improve strength, posture, slow down the ageing process, better maintain weight, and generally speaking look hotter. so what your saying here is that there are no real health benefits for women who lift weights;)

yeah but did u not find that your weight stayed the same?

yes your weight on the scales will stay the same but you'll be slimmer hence why Serpahina said she's lost bodyfat. Muscle is more dense than fat so if you start to lift you'll initially lose weight, but then you may stop losing it or even put a tiny bit back on. But you'll keep getting smaller in the mirror.

CSG, I have found that the body grows used to the same level of exercise and then weight loss slows down. If you increase the time spent or intensity every few weeks that will help the weight steadily come off.

Also, you mentioned alcohol. Yes, those empty calories will slow down the loss.

Portion control is VERY important in my opinion. I eat less than half of what I would eat a year ago this time. It can be done!!! Just keep your mind focussed on your goal and it will happen.

Once you start fitting into smaller sized clothes, you will be so thrilled that it will encourage you to continue.

    I wish you the best!

i wasn't really carrying much extra weight to begin with so my weight actually went up a bit. no offence, but who's dumb enough to worry about a number on a scales when you feel fitter, healthier, stronger, your down a clothes size or two, and you look better naked? :D

    From my experience most women.

that was supposed to be a rhetorical question but i guess you're right. probably why there's so many jiggly women running on the treadmills everytime i'm in the gym. *shrugs* their loss

Not an expert so this is only my opinion: I would think that unless you are significantly overweight, the amount on the scales shouldn't really be your concern. I, personally, would take more notice of how much inches on a tape measure my waist/thighs/arms take up and what I look like nekkid. Like, one girl of 10 and a half stone might be quite trim, but another girl of the exact same weight might be a bit chubby - it depends on individual body composition.

Pics, to prove the effectivness?! :p

Anywho, yeah, gives the free weights a good looking over. Use pictures and tape to measure your progress (scale too depending on weight). Plus, you might really enjoy lifting weights, it's a great rush. However, no 1kg pink dumbbells, get some decent KGs moving and put yourself under an olympic bar when your comfortable enough.

ahh, the old days, when lifting an olympic bar was a struggle... seems so long go now :D

But seriously though, free weights are probably the best way to help you get in shape. Like the above said, none of your pink dumbell action- if you can do more than 15 reps with it, it's too light. Get an instructor to show you the basics, then when you know your way around discard everything the instructor said and do it properly ;)
