    Had a fairly decent work out monday night. Did a fair few stretches before and after but of course had the inevitable rigot mortis the next morning. All my poor muscles are in some pain at the moment. Any advice on how to ease this now or prevent it in some way next time?

    Ah, DOMS, ya gotta love em. Vit C and Potassium have been linked with reducing DOMS.

    It's perfectly normal and will fade with time and consistency.

    Delayed onset of muscle soreness is basically down to a change in the muscles routine. It can occur the first time training, when coming back to training after a long time or when introducing a new excersise to a program.

    Nothing to worry about.

    I actually don't mind getting that at all, it shows that I've had a decent workout. Having said that though, I have to be careful if I haven't been in a while and I do any bicep curls, now THAT'S a killer!!

    After my runs (beginner preparing for 1st marathon), I do a short 15-20 min yoga routine. I skipped the yoga in my 1st few weeks of training (used to do "just" stretching): my legs felt like wooden legs except they were sore. I've started with the short yoga routines and the mornings after running I wake up fresh as a rose! An interesting "side effect" is that I seem to sweat more in 5 mins of yoga than in 20 running...

    IMPORTANT PD: I've been doing yoga for a while. If you've never done any before, don't just start without lessons from a qualified teacher or you'll most probably end up doing it wrong and hurting yourself!!
