So what exactly is your point? Do we think our attitude affects us personally?! What a ridiculous question. Or are we supposed to pat you on the back for having such a great attitude?

Perhaps thinking before you [strike]spam[/strike] post would work out better for all concerned.

No it doesn't, a positive attitude just means you can accept or put up with whatever happens, and as such, you just seem to deal with stuff better than others.

You don't actually make anything better with this positive attitude, you just don't let things get to you as much, so things seem better relative to someone in a similar situation that would have a more negative attitude.

Now then, enough of this nonsense!!!! :D

I have a fabulous attitude to life. I'm a happy person, generally. I'm relaxed and upbeat. This is proved by the following:
    • I don't feel the need to get the approval of a bulletin board every time I fart.
    • I don't constantly start new threads on a bulletin board in an effort to gain feedback on my opinions.
    • I don't consistently spam the main forum on a bulletin board to direct attention towards myself.
    • I don't need to use the word 'cool' in my username.
    • When I'm in a hurry and have something to do, I don't stop by the PC and post the latest lonely thought that wandered into my dizzy little brain because I don't feel a constant need to share everything in a desperate quest for affirmation.
    • I believe karma will flatten you for being irritating just as much as it will for being mean.
    • I don't feel the need to use multiple exclamation marks!!! After everything I write!!!! To remind people how highly excitable I actually am!!!
    • I don't come across as a target for self-help gurus and commune leaders.

My attitude definitely affects me personally. Something that is an inherent part of how your brain works will tend to do that to you, donchaknow.

Actually, I'm normally a cynical old fart with a dislike for tepidgrinningslut.
But... tbh Shes right. A positive attitude is very important. Being positive opens up doors and posibilities that pessisimists just can't see.

Definitely agree with that, plus its just nicer to be around positive people than negative ones.

Ironic stuff, for a thread on Positive attitudes, it has sure promoted a lot of negative ones. Chill folks! Imagine the sound of one hand clapping and all that.

I wonder if this post was submitted by someone else would you all be giving the same replies. My guess is if Cloud or Dev started this you'd all be falling over yourself to give helpful replies.

    Regardless...

I think that a positive attitude and mindset is vital to get through the daily hustle and bustle of life. If you awake in the morning with a horribly negative attitude about going to work, chances are that you will have a slow, monotonous, soul destroying day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,367 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

I'm sure if Cloud or Dev posted it, the post would have contained proper grammar, spelling and a point ;)

Frankly if Cloud or Dev posted this I'd think they were on drugs. If Ecksor posted it I'd think he was on drugs AND drunk AND trolling.

    .

Exactly, and if you werent all so busy replying to what a useless thread this is it would have disappeared long ago, its like watching cattle running for a gate together to tell CSG what a waste of space this is. If you think its a waste of space, why do you add to it?

Back on topic, yea of course a postitive mental attitude is important. As Fuzzylogic said it makes you see the world in a whole new light. Not only do you get less bogged down in worry and pessimism, but a positive attitude tends to be quite infectious. Like syphillis.

Nobody is ever successful in life without a positive attitude.

I think discipline is probably more important than a positive attitude but PA is important too.

I don't understand that to be honest. Granted I haven't come across many of CSG's posts in the past, but a thread about having a positive attitude is a lot better than some of the crap I've seen on AH in the past.

I don't quite get what is meant by a "positive attitude", a dillusional mindset that makes you think everything is great?

You need a REALISTIC attitude, having a "positive" or "negative" attituude is simply fooling yourself tbh.
    InFront wrote:

Not true. Who would care about working hard if they thought everything was great already?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,528 ✭✭✭TomCo

The question was, and I'm translating here.
"Does your attitude effect you personally"

Well it has to really, its your attitude so it must effect you.

    Thread closed.

Well at the risk of getting jumped on and regardless of what you all think CSG's reasons are for starting the thread I happen to agree with her.

Being positive is not about being delusional. It's about stepping back when you've received a knock and looking for the opportunity or options that are provided instead of b*tching and moaning to all around you about it or just giving up. It's about being able to see the good in a situation, the way out of the bad siuation. Negative people just sit there being boring and moany.

Think about it, I'd rather have positive people around me than negative people.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,658 ✭✭✭✭The Sweeper

I am positive. I'm positively irritated by people who start a new thread with anything at all occurs to them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,698 ✭✭✭InFront

Minesajackdaniels, if you dont like it, stop bumping it to the top of the forum.

Just on the point that nobody successful without a positive mental attitude:That is not to say that one's whole life should be or would be seen through rose tinted glasses. When I talk about a positive attitude, I mean the ability to get up, dust yourself off and see that the game isnt over yet when you fall in the proverbial sh1t.

Nobody has ever succeeded without failing first, and its not negativity that got them through this, it was the ability to move on and try again. That's a positive attitude.

This includes Emo's, writers, journalists, film critics, etc. Their outlook on certain aspects of society may be bleak, but their impression of themselves is that they can overcome all of that nonsense in the outside world that they hate, and simultaneously be successful at what they do.

In my experience, the most negative people I know have no self confidence, poor people skills and tend to do badly in exams and competitions (sports). Every success in life requires time and effort on your part, but if you keep thinking 'whats the point' or 'everyone's out to get me', you won't get very far
