Just wondering if anyone out there has heard of geocaching?
It's a world-wide treasurehunt using GPS. People hide treasures (usually small lunchboxes) with "treasures" inside, post the GPS co-ordinates on geocaching.com, and people go out and seek these treasures.
They are usually placed in scenic or generally interesting places, so it's a great way to explore your own country, and a nice way to find places off the tourist trail in foreign countries.
Anyway, I have been doing it for a year or so and find it quite enjoyable.
So what's this got to do with Google Earth?
Well, of you download the kml on this page you get a Geocaching browser for GE. Now just navigate to your home, wait a few seconds, and hopefully you should see some symbols pop showing which caches are nearby.
Have a look, and if you have a GPSr, why not go out and hunt for your first cache? It's a bit of fun ;)
