Her scratchy voice tends to grate after a while. I enjoyed her stint doing the breakfast show with Rick o Shea last year, though.

Absolutely awful DJ, a disgrace to the national radio station.

She was poached back from 98fm over a year ago, Id say they were gutted to see her leave LOL.

She'd be more suited to Tipp FM or some other random bogger radio station that might appreciate her instead of subjecting the whole country to her unique style of "Hows she cuttin" drivel.

some people in here just have no idea really.. what sort of a general sweep is that? "bogger radio station" ? Ruth Scott may not be any sort of a smooth disc jockey or go out of her way to go along with any 'smashey nicey' approach. she's a personality presenter, she is being herself. She's from Co.Roscommon which to some people, who maybe have never been outside the pale, is in the west of ireland and yes most definately 'how's she cuttin' country.. anything the west side of lucan is, of course. grow up and learn to appreciate radio for what it is, and when you've listened to every "bogger radio station" in the country, come back to me and i'll listen to your stupid ideas about radio in the rest of the country. and probably throw throw them back in your face. muppet.

i don't understand most of that message because you're using some sort of shorthand that i'm not familiar with. If it's just Ruth Scott you're speaking about, why bring "random bogger radio stations" in to it. I don't know anything about you, so i'm not going to generalise like you did yourself. but you obviously have no idea about local/community radio on any level, so please don't generalise until you can give solid examples and reasons for your statements.

If she's on a national station, she's meant to appeal to the entire country. Now I'm not saying whether Ruth is "hows she cuttin'" or whether she isn't but a presenter cannot broadcast on a national station with the aim of appealing to people in Roscommon alone. The same way a Dublin presenter would not present in a style familiar with the natives of Sligo.

According to the biography on the 2fm website

Ruth's first ever radio show was conducted in a mobile home outside the student bar for Rag Week Radio, Ruth posted a casette tape to the hallowed halls of RTÉ 2FM for the DJ For A Day competition in 1995. She didn't win but it inspired a love of talking to herself in a darkened room!

Major LOL at this part !

Radio Luxembourg, Radio Caroline & the BBC all turned Ruth down when she offered to do work experience with them but thankfully Shannonside, Northern Sound, Radio Kerry & RTÉ 2FM obliged. Ruth spent her days happily licking stamps, making tea & begging to do the newspaper reviews.

At 415 each day she does "Ruths Truth"...which is supposed to be celeb goss...which basically means she reads the showbiz pages from the dailly mirror and the sun newspapers....grrrr I hate that shoite ! Who gives a hoop! :mad:

Think you might have taken that up incorrectly. It was a sarcastic comment "definately how's she cuttin' " was referring to sizzlers remarks about random bogger local stations. and that was my argument with him/her that there's no need to generalise and would be more helpful to give specific examples etc. I was merely speaking about general peoples thoughts about everywhere west of lucan being bogger country. In relation to Ruth Scott aiming her presentation at people in Co.Roscommon, i never meant anything like that but valid point in what you said.

I don't think Ruth is that bad. Mind you I can't honestly say I've listened to a full show of hers I tend to be doing stuff at the time she's on. I've listened to the 5.30 take over thing a few times though and it doesn't seem to bad and she seems ok at djing it.

Ruth would not be my cup of tea, The production on her show is very unimaginative as higlighted above with "ruths truth and not forgetting teh 5.30 take over where she plays 3 songs in a row requested by a listener, how original for prime time national radio.

It is obvious from her links that she lacks the abilty/life experience/personality to hold an audiences attention. IMO she is at best a decent local radio presenter ,she should pinch herself every morning when she wakes up.

Well, at least she's off the air for the next two weeks on holidays. Michael Cahill's in instead of her. I much preffered his old 3-6 drivetime slot before she came along. Pity he's only on-air 2 hours a week nowadays.

I really can't understand why RTE has someone like her doing prime-time radio when they have the likes of Cormac Battle behind the scenes (don't think he ever leaves 2fm's studio's to be honest).

Did anyone hear her phone interview with Melody (sp?) from the Pussycat Dolls when they were supporting Take That? She was talking down to her like she was a 5 year old. It went something like this:
