Just under 4weeks now!! I only finished 4weeks ago! Time is flying!! I'm worrying a good bit, mainly because if one or two subjects don't go my way I'm basically screwed!

Yeah I was thinking about the results a few days ago when trying to sleep. I get phases of being nervous maybe once a week, but on the otherside Im looking forward to getting my results and knowing Im going to college!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,080 ✭✭✭eamoss

I dont like waiting for stuff. I wanted my results straight after I finished my Construction Studies exam(my last exam). But I also messed up in two of my exams just want to get them back to how I did.

I bet I wont be able 2 sleep that night. I will be up at the School gates at 5am or something waiting for them to open! :D

nah i don't usually get nervous. Though i probably will be once i have the envelope in my hand! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 478 ✭✭GretchenWieners

yeah i'm trying to figure out when the best time to go in and get my results would be, the less of a crowd the better, just in case I'm not happy with my results and I'm surrounded by people who I don't like who are happy with their results and I get jealous and have a freak attack!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,467 ✭✭✭smemon

i'm not going in, can't stand all the hype and attention seekers

i'll sleep in 'til 12 on wednesday and then flick on the laptop to get my results on-line.

don't be silly, why would you be nervous? you can't change anything now.

I am not going to get the results. I don't need to know what I got in the exams. I just need to get offered my first choice the monday morning afterwards! You get the ofer whether you know what results you got or not. I am pretty confident of my place anyway just don't want to kinx it though. anyway. Remember Education is Overrated

i'm not nervous because i know that i didn't do that great so i know what to expect! however if on the day i get on really well, you'll all be hearing about it :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

    well i can't sleep
and I'm having constant dreams about it..
I wouldn't be like this usually
    only I repeated
and things just didn't go to plan

There really is no point worrying about things you cannot change.

In the event that you do not do as well as you wished/hoped/wanted to, there are ALWAYS other ways of getting the qualification you would like.

There is no life rule says you have to go straight into a degree, or even straight to third level, or even to third level at all. There are many things out there in the world you can do which all go to build a better person, which in the end of the day is a lot more worthwhile than a silly piece of paper. Remember there is always the option of being a mature student after you've seen a bit of the world, or worked, or done other things.

Enjoy your holidays, and whatever your results are like, enjoy your life.

im not nervous. i think about them everyday in passing.. nothin too serious like, just theyre on my mind.
i want to get them, cos not until i leave those gates with exam results in hand will i feel im properly finished school..

im pretty confident i got the points i need, and i just hope i didnt make too much of a balls of the 1 exam i actually need a decent grade in..

but sure, theres nothin we can do about it, so.. no, im not nervous. nerves are for things your about to do.. things you can influence

I'm getting nervous now as time goes on. I had a dream the other night I got 402 points, and my course was 403! lol!

I mean...logically I know I should be ok...but there's always doubt. What if this subject went very badly, what if that subject went awfully.

i just wish I had them now so i could just deal with their consequences, whatever they are.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 190 ✭✭shane0312

I keep going over the individual subjects, and aswell as that working out the different combinations of results that I need to get my points. Unfortunately theres not a lot of combinations cause I want to do medicine, so it kind of makes it worse. Well all we can do is wait......easier said than done.

I'm getting very nervous now. I know I didn't do as well as I hoped I would so I'd rather just never know. Also, everyone is expecting me to do really well so I don't know how I'll handle people's reactions....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 703 ✭✭✭ThrownAway

I'm not nervous, I'm grand about the whole thing. I admit though that I did have a panic attack one night trying to go to sleep.

My mom's friends and my nosey relations are ringing up every now and again wanting to know when I'm getting my results so they can gossip away. Like **** they'll find out...it's none of their bloody business. I'm not even telling my parents because their the one's who'll end up telling them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,688 ✭✭✭grimloch

I'm not at all nervous, I have a pretty rough idea of what I got so I fail to see what being nervous would achieve.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

I'm not that nervous, don;t see the point. Exams are finished, nothing I can do. This is the same reason I get annoyed with people saying "Oh, you're getting your results today. Good Luck!"

I'd be half tempted to not bother going on, or go for the results but not open them till i go home, but I'd say my principal would flip. He needs my results to put in the papers and make the school look good.

Right now, however, I'm more concerned with Morrowind than my results.

Im so worried! I just wish that the exams went as well as i thought they would of! Its irritating to think that i did work hard and that I might not get any where near my points! One thing which is great is that my results are deliverd to my doorstep at 9 am! So thank god I do not hav to open them with loads of people! ahhhhh! I hate thinkin of it and I hate the wait!! Im scared of the unkown and the worst case scenario where i get really low points!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 747 ✭✭✭caesar

Not worried but now and again I think about my maths result cause it might stop me from getting into college but it doesn't really have me worried too much. I can just repeat maths if needs be. I've told my family that i wouldn't be telling them what i get, otherwise half the country will know.

Is anyone else having stupid dreams about the results? i had one a few weeks ago. I got an A of C in construction and other weird results.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 703 ✭✭✭ThrownAway

No dreams about results but I got nightmares about sitting my LC.

They were terrible.. I was trying to get into my German exam but things kept stopping me and I ended up missing it.. stuff like that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,252 ✭✭✭Funkstard

I'm pretty nervous....being generous in my estimations I still think I'm about 25 points off my course. With that said however, my cousin last year was absolutely, completely sure he couldn't have gotten over 530...in the end he got 560 and got into Pharmacy. So who knows. But still, I'm preparing to be disappointed, and it'll be the most disgusting feeling ever

How are you getting them delivered?

  • I'm just worried about the Geography exam, how they marked it...

Cause i was an A student with my teacher's marking scheme during the year, and i'm counting on staying the same, but cant be certain of it on account of the new marking scheme.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 478 ✭✭GretchenWieners

I'm worried about my Geography too, I went blank on the biome and only got down 1 1/2 pages of the 3 learnt off and even at that it was bad! And my Economics was woeful so I'm hoping things like my French, Irish, English and Business go better for me, was hoping for about 450 but would be ecstatic now if I got over 400.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 887 ✭✭✭Rockerette

    i had a dream i got 495, i'd laugh that happened

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 478 ✭✭GretchenWieners

That must've been a nice dream! I'm actually going to go to mass and say a prayer and hopefully they'll be answered!!

I don't mean to sound like smemon but I cannot believe so many of you are woorying about the results. It's stupid. I am not even thinking about them! I'm enjoying the summer!

    ditto :)

i seriously couldnt care less about them. i'm not going in to get them as a sort of 2 figured salute to the teachers who make it out to be a matter of life and death

i know what i'll get roughly, none of this jinxing rubbish- i'll get in or around 450.

i've told people that already and they just look at me. irish people don't like confident people. simple as.

we're all brought up in a level thinking society where everyone tells you 'you'll do grand' no matter how stupid you are or without knowing you. tell people you'll get 560 points and they'll instantly take a dislike to you.

the successful man is hated, the man who struggles to get by is loved. why? because the poor man has nothing bigger or better than us, the successful man has everything we want and can never get. so in order to make ourselves feel better, we'll huddle in a group and discuss just what a bad person the successful man is to make ourselves feel better.

    peace out.

what help would that really do?

even if i believed in an intraventionist god, i wouldnt

perhaps before the exam itself, or before the paper is drawn up (pray for one suited for you)

but its all done and dusted now

Yeah I wore a miraculous medal all through my exams and it worked well!! Someone up there likes me I think!

i suppose you could pray the examiner was in a good mood or something? hhmmm

but nah, im past worrying. the exams didnt really phase me much, so it'd be a shame to start now..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,467 ✭✭✭smemon

    typical religious attitude here:

'i only pray when i need something, when i'm lonely or weak or afraid of something.'

religion is for the mentally weak who need comfort knowing there is life after death. notice how the majority of mass going people are old. why? because they're afraid of dying.

no modern day teenager would go to mass given the choice imo. if nobody in the family went to mass, you can guarantee the teenager wouldn't.

it's all about social acceptance and all that rubbish, a big dress-up occassion and a chance to put on fake smiles.

clearly im stuck in the 60s

(and well, not mass as such.. different religion.. but same idea)

oh and im not afraid of dieing, so i think i make a balls of your theory smemon ;)

  • smemon wrote:

my gf goes to mass each weekend, her parents don't.

    She's a modern day teenager...

so i think you might need to revise that statement.

That's scary sounds exactely like something I'd say :D

It's not just because they're scared of dying though it's the way the were brought up though going to mass too

You don't have to be just afraid of dying most people are too scared to think logically and face up to the truth - no body knows

What's this thread about again? Oh yeah :D yeah I'm terrified right now :p

Not scared of dying, I'm just worried about my results!! I really hope they go well for me because I worked hard but some things are still touch and go.

reasons why you go to mass:

    1. to make yourself feel good for doing something 'holy'.
    2. to pray when you need/want something.
    3. to get into heaven when you die.
    4. to be socially accepted.
    5. you're forced to go.
    6. to show off a new car/jumper/suit/dress/shoes.
    7. you have time to kill.
    8. to be different

bottom line is, people think by going to mass, they'll be a better person. sort of like giving money to a beggar on the street.

reality is, they are giving in to social pressure and have been brainwashed by history/family or priests.

give me proof there is a heaven/god, i'll eat my words. however nobody can prove that  people are just scared to think when we die that's it and we don't come back.

so no, im not getting nervous about the leaving results :D

  • i'm not religious, in the slightest, haven't been to mass since they stopped giving me money *Confirmation*..

But different strokes for different folks..

you cant just sum up a belief system in 8 points, you might have gotten close (in my estimation anyway) but there are thousands of little things about belief that i wil never understand, and i don't think you will either..

Now, back on topic (probably not gonna stay on topic long), I'm no longer nervous about the results, i just want them.

i actually considered responding to this, point by point as "defined" above ^
    but well...

im not even gonna bother

Youre not religious, big deal, but.. dont diss whats important to other people smemon.
im not tryin to be a bitch here responding to you, as i may have done in teh past ( ), but just.. have the balls to respect other peoples choices, and realise that maybe youre own opinions arent the "right" ones for everyone else..

if you really think those reasons you mentioned above are why people are religious and go to services, you actually appear to have the same mentality and understanding of it as a retarded toad.

    "to be different" ???

i really thought you were smarter than that..

    anyway.

i cant wait to walk out of the school for the last time with results in hand... ooh it'll be great.

but i think we go back in september for a graduation tea or something

ah well, my moment will still be great.
i remember walking out after the last exam, damn it felt good.

 I totally agree with you Rockerette!

That's ridiculous! You can't say EVERYONE goes to Mass for those reasons. That's taking generalising a bit far in my opinion.
I am not religious and I have very little time for organised religion, but you have to accept that other people believe. For whatever reasons.

And anyway I'm nervous about the results but it has nothing to do with being religious or anything. It's not logical or rational to be nervous, but then most people don't sit back and think 'Oh I'll be nervous', you just feel it and can't help it. So it's not 'stupid' to feel nervous!!

Two nights ago I dreamt at first I got my course, then I woke up/fell asleep and I failed, and I woke up again and fell asleep and failed my LC again. Twice in one night..

And to make matters worse I was walking with a friend and he was about to tell me about this dream he had, I cut in and told him I dreamt of failing my LC. He said he dreamt of me failing my LC too... ARGH!

i disagree, those reason's should be deeply examined and challenged.

after all, people have been swayed into religion by priests/ parents/grandparents etc... why not sway them out of it?

fair enough, if people believe in blind faith- so be it. however how a dodgy 2000 year old story backed up by a single book just don't cut it for me.

i find it remarkable how easy people buy into things like this. it's exactly like get rich quick schemes or nigerian scams on ebay - you invest heavily and get nothing in return.

muslim/hindui/christians and all the rest all have very different views on religion. none can all be right, so why do people choose one over the other? location & family mostly. meaning religion is not about beliefs, it's about pride, location, and carrying on tradition.

it's funny how people always insist on backing things up with facts and evidence, yet when it comes to religion there isnt any  but they still believe...

Yeah the papers have been corrected since last weekend, just sorting out deliveries and printing the results on paper now. The marking scheme for the French listening was halved in the parts most people got wrong like Section 5 and apparently they didn't go too hard on the English exam so hopefully I should do ok. Really need over 400 and my Economics was chronic and my Geography was bad enough so I have good reason to be nervous!
