Sorry to be awkward but what happens if you spend €60 but you have absolutely no use for creatine?

Is there an alternative or is it take it or leave it?

And what a toilet it is! I would highly recommend it to anyone who is in Phibsboro and stuck for a toilet, it beats sneaking into McDonalds and pretending to be looking for someone!;)

Yes we do! If you read the original post you'll see that you'll get a tenner off anything over 60 quid..

As g'em says, Pro-X has the lowest carbs and fats and better amino acid profile compared to most.
As I explained to a guy today who didn't care about the amount of Carbs in EAS, he said it tastes nice, So do mars bars I replied.

Just while its fresh in my head:

Here are the 3 main sellers from the shop and their breakdown

All 3 are class products, here is the marginal differences between them!

    PRO-X per 30g

    24.5g protein (81.5 per 100g)

    1.5g carbs

    1.8g fats

    ON Pure Whey per 30g

    24g Protein

    3g Carbs

    1.9g Fats

    EAS per 30g

    23g of protein,
    2g of fat and
    2g of carbs
    (thanks Mick!)

    76g protein (compare to ProX)

    5.3g Carbs

7.7GRAMS of Fat (thats what it says!)

But yes we have them all here, variety is the spice of life!

Why are you comparing 100g of eas to 30g of Pro-x?

From the side of a tub of eas 30g contains 23g of protein, 2g of fat and 2g of carbs. There is no need to mislead people, Pro-x is good stuff but don't make out like eas isn't.

Im not Mick, I didn't have the 30g breakdown in my head, thats why I said no 30g breakdown. Im not intending to mislead anyone as its says that on the tub
Is it 2g of fat or 2mg of fat?

Pro-x is in mg, per 30g = 1.8mg. Can't remember what ON is

Jon, Mickk is right, it's g not mg. Cholesterol and sodium are given in mg.

If the fat was in mg you could classify it as 'fat-free', which of course, it's not. The discrepancies between the brands are, in reality, quite minor and will really only have huge impacts on the consumer at high volume. But still for value Pro X, ON and EAS are extremely good I've only tried Pro X and another brand, but have heard great things about ON in particular (I've only sampled teh chocoalte whey and it really is as good as a chocolate malt shake!!!) Maximuscle tends to be that bit more expensive because it's the most heavily marketed of all the brands and it's the one that everyone will recognise the easiest.

No worries, it does say mg on the pro-x tub (maybe it is fat free:D )

Just to be clear I wasn't slating the other products I just listed their content so people could see. But if it's causing a prob I'll edit it. ON are a class product no doubt, the amount of people coming in looking for it is equal to Pro-X. If you compare the listed products to other inferior and available brands it will be clear that the 3 of them are really good.

My editing fingers are ready! Let me know ;)

well, just checked my tub of Pro X Deluxe Mint Choc (fabulous stuff tbh ;) ) and it's 1.89g of fat, 0.6g of which are saturates. That level of fats is absolutely ntohing to be concerned about though for anyoen reading this- it's an unavoidable part of the whey as a by-product of cheese manufacture. A small amount of fat will also encourage absorption of the protein so it's actually better that it isn't fat-free.

LOL my Platinum tub of Strawberry says 1.89mg!!

A typo no doubt, it never dawned on me

Exactly 2g of fat is absolutely nothing to worry about, thats why I find it offensive that jon compares it with a mars bar...

I like eamonns proteins and I would of carried them as my main protein but he does a 4lb tub and eas do a 5lb tub both for very similar prices.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭empirix

Don't get me wrong, its just i tried the pro X stuff about a year or so ago and tbh i wasn't impressed at all, Irish company though so hats off there, maybe there is a new and improved product out now(i hope so).
But for me ON is my faveourite but the choclate flavour is highly addictive, not mad about the other flavours. Promax i personally rate second, above the Eas whey thats of a lot better value for quantity, at the end of the day they probably all do the jobs intended, but we all have a different metabolism, so all i was saying i benefit more from the ON and MMuscle stuff

Dude, don't be getting offended. It was light hearted joke for god sake. Even the guy I was talking to had a good laugh.

I didn't know people rated ON so highly, I am a free agent with no ties to any companies so I might actually change from eas to ON, ON is actually cheaper for me to buy!

I don't agree with that, you said

"As I explained to a guy today who didn't care about the amount of Carbs in EAS, he said it tastes nice"

It has the same amount of carbs as prox and less than ON? I wouldn't like to think that anyone who bought eas from me would feel like they bought an inferior product when the actual numbers clearly show they are the same. There is no need for it.

For f*ck sake its powdered protein.

Buy whatever one you want to buy and be done with it.

You are wasting time typing comebacks in this stupid arguement, and it doesnt even give your forearms a good workout

I used maximuscle initially because I simply could not find anything else. I switched to York for awhile because it was cheaper for more but once I ran out I had to change back to finish off the Maximuscle. I was nearly violently sick after drinking it, it actually tastes like "Dried gym sweat flavour". The York stuff tastes nice, as an actual drink let alone for a protein shake. I know its pretty childish to base your choice of shake on taste but its honestly THAT bad.

Anyway, great prices there. Pity I can't avail of them here in Galway. All I can seem to find is Maximuscle and York stuff....

if you have a credit card try fitnessireland.ie (anybody know if they take laser) as they will probably deliver to Galway and they would have a much better selection of stuff you could try and probably a lot cheaper to.

That or you could come up to dublin every couple of months and bulk buy stuff from either Jon or Mickk

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

Unfortunately I don't have a CC, and don't get me started on 3v, I've tried so many times - "Machines broken" "your card must be faulty" "Whats 3v", the list goes on.

Does anyone have any experience of the York stuff actually. Its the bog standard stuff in the argos catalogue. It seems relatively ok nutritional wise, its 35 euro for 4x330g, tastes really great too....but would like to hear what anyone thought of it who used it or otherwise. Sorry if this is derailing the original purpose of the thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,407 ✭✭✭✭justsomebloke

oh just to clarify there does seem to be a problem with some of the labeling of some of the proX stuff as i have a vanilla tub of prox platinum that also states that it has only 1.8mg of fat so it was. So it was an honest mistake initally on Jon's part as the product labelling was wrong which i am sure he can't be held libel for that.
