There was a good bit of interest in this before so here goes.

The budget for each team is $30 million taken from this all time money list.

    Rules:
    1. Teams must consist of 12 players.
    2. Teams must contain at least 4 European players.
    3. Teams must contain at least 1 female player.
    4. Teams must contain at least 2 players not on the all time money list.
Closing date for entry is 27th July. Posts edited after this date are disqualified!!
Points are awarded according to finishing position in the main event. 1st= 1 point, 33=33 points etc. Only players who finish in the money in the actual event are awarded points. Whoever's team has the least amount of points is the winner.

I don't know how accurate the money list (from Hendon mob) attached to this post is but it's the official one as far as this competition is concerned (Thanks ocallagh!!)

When submitting your team please include the value on the WSOP money list (if any) for each player and a Team total on the bottom. Also indicate who your European players are. Give your team a name.

There is a €50 wager on offer on this. Please CLEARLY state on the post WITH your team if you wish to be included in this or not. We'll sort out how the winner gets paid after the event. I think nearly everyone on here knows someone who knows someone so it shouldn't be too hard to get paid.

Scotty #, I presume if you picks finish out of the money they actually get points? perhaps all the same amount of points, one point more than the last player itm.
If not I pick Stu Ungar 12 times.

Sure that wouldn't make any difference to the team placings. Would it?

If none of your picks finish in the money then you would win with the least amunt of points

Its the team with the least amount of points that wins redzer.

Its so hard to cash in the WSOP I think it should be done the other way around. Whereby the team with the most points wins.

Im not sure if anybody has any ideas how many people are going to be paid this year but I think that the difference between the bubble and the first person out who was itm is at least five points.

    Mike Sexton 2.9m

    Mel Judah 2.5m

    Phil Lakk 900k

    Erik Lindgren 4.3m

    Kathy Liebert 3.3m

Stick me down for the wager

Need a new way to score it otherwise the team who gets no one in the money would win on 0 points, thats if Im reading it correctly.

I think the best way to score it is on the ammount of money won, i.e. you add up the prizes claimed by everyone in your team at the main event and team with highest dollar total wins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭shoutman

Its kinda silly posting up your team here, because obviously people are gonna go hmmmm he's a good one I'll stick him in, I think its a better idea if we were to pm our teams to one person and then once the closing date is passed post them up here to compare them all.

This is what I was trying to point out. Think the scoring must be rethought.

Only players who finish in the money are eligable. Therefor any players outside the money (and their 0 points) are not counted.

If anyone can suggest a better points system let me know. If we give points for money it could be a bit unfair. eg. player a is 800th and gets $12,500 player b is 702nd and gets $12,500.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,434 ✭✭✭cardshark202

Points could be awarded like this: If player A finished 89th out of 1000 then he would get (1000-89) points. Simple really.

I wouldn't say its unfair, they both did equally well. Its not about postiton, its about money.

Does anyone know how many get paid? For examply, if 800 get paid then I suggest that the you get points based on your position like Scotty suggests but everybody out of the money gets 801 ponts.

The winning Team is the team with the highest cashout in the actual main event. Point system is scraped due to popular demand.

I put it here in big red letters because I can't edit the original post any more.

Well so far its been alright, Layne Flack is flying. Andy Black has done well on day 1a too.

Patrick Antonius has been my only casualty thus far. When his AQ got runner runnered by Men the masters KQ, Men finished with trip kings.

I think only three of my picks have played so far.

    Still 2/3 aint bad.

Actually Carlos Mortensen ended day 1a on about 4 or 5k if I remember correctly...

Still 2 and a half out of four aint disasterous.

John Phan raises pre-flop, and he is called by Joe Berry and Sam Farha. The flop comes 964, Phan raises, Berry calls, and Farha re-raises. Phan folds and Berry smooth calls. The turn brings another 6, and once again, Farha bets into Berry who just calls. The river brings a 10, and Farha moves all-in. Berry calls and Farha flips over pocket 9s for a full house. Berry shows pocket 6s, and Farha can't believe his opponent turned quads against his top set. Farha is eliminated.

2 of my team gone now.

Daithio is another goner, all my team have gone out on bad beats....

Jen Harman is gone too, so thats four of me team out....

Daniel Negranu looks to be motoring though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭shoutman

    Another one bites the dust.
At the ESPN featured table, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow calls all in on for approximately $10,000 on a flop of 9d4d7s, after heavy preflop betting. Both players flip up their hands, Matusow with 7h7c and his opponent with KdJ.d The Ah falls on the turn, and Matusow now has to dodge only a diamond or he will double up. The river brings the 3d, and a very dejected Mouth is sent to the rail.

I'm not sure of his opponents chip stack, i'm not even sure if that would justify calling 10k all in on a flush draw...

And that is five of my twelve gone....
