I posted this in the cycling forum as well. I should have just posted it here....

The longest I've cycled is only for 2 hours but plan on cycling from dublin to wexford town some weekend.
I believe it will take me about 8 hours.

What should I eat before I go for the cycle and what food should I bring?
Also, any drink I should bring besides from water?

what to eat before : preferably nothing. A simple meal of pasta
    the night before should suffice.

what to eat during : bananas - a great source of complex carbohydrate
for long and sustained energy. this could be coupled with bread

key thing to remember : food intake should be a little and often.

re: drinks - water should suffice - Dub-Wex is not exactly Mt. Blanc.

The last meal before the evening time the day before should be a whole meal pasta or Brown rice meal.
Next morning Porridge Oats, have you heard of VITARGO? its a specially formulated 'long chain Carbohydrate' drink, which releases energy over time.

Bring fruit and any carb drink you have, plenty of water too! Take a few L-tyrosine caps also for the journey, keep you focused
