Need help with new diet/fitness plan

    I'm 70kg, 5'9 and go to the gym 5 times a week.

I was really into bulking up so I was eating 3000+ calories a day for a few months and doing pretty intensive weight training and very little cardio. Now I've bulked up a fair bit and am happy enough with the results and now I was to get my body fat % down as low as possible (want to look more defined, lose some midriff fat) while still maintaining some of the muscle (preferably most but i'm being realistic). I've cut my caloric intake to around 1500 per day and generally do around an hour of pretty intense cardio, burning around 1000 calories as well as a full program of weights. I eat around six 250 calorie meals a day, nothing processed, no sugar, no junk food. I eat a fair amount of meat and probably take in around 100g of protein a day. My energy levels are great and i've never felt better which is surprising considering the amount of cardio i'm doing and my low calorie intake. My question is this ; is what i'm doing extreme? If I continue to do a full program of weights and keep up the complex carbohydrates and protein will I minimize the amount of muscle I lose or will I lose practically all of it due to my using way more calories than i'm taking in every day?

    Thanks for the help,

    Roy

Thanks for your reply. I'm doing half hour treadmill, constant 12.5/13kph, half hour cross trainer, level 15, no interval training.

    Cheers,

    Roy

Get your body fat tested using a calipers only!

You can't improve on what you have not measured.

    Also what are your goals?

Do you want to run a race etc
