I am thinking of joining one of the Ultimate Woman gyms and was wondering if anyone here is a member already and find them good/bad?
They are along the lines of Curves as in 30 minutes 3 times a week.
Don't really want to lose weight but want to tone up and as my partner works long hours feel the 30 minutes wuld be easier to slot in than a regular gym.

if it is the same as curves you can't change the resistance of the machines which means that after the first while the exercise stops being as effected in muscle creation and so you don't get that "toned" looked. Check into seeing whether you can change the resistance on their machines if not the gym would be a better bet, mixed in with some home workouts for the times you can't fit in the gym sessions

You can change the resistance. you start at level 1 and it goes up to level 5.

Well just owndering if it is worth 339 euros a year to join up? Don't live near any other Gym so it is either this or nothing (regarding Gyms) for me

well it will depend, if you have the €340 eruo handy and it wouldn't make a big dent in your saving it may be worth it to put it as a one year investment. I would only do it for 1 year, if after the first year you enjoyed it and can't increase your programme to push you further at that point you could look to join another gym which you may have to travel for or you could do you own plan of home exercise including bodyweight exercises, running/walking and some weights (i.e. for the €400 you save on a second years membership you could put it towards some weights and a bench and have a much better workout). The only advantage i see in these places is that it can give like minded women a chance to start exercising in a group to help them start to get fit and see that exercising isn't as daunting as it seems and can be quite enjoyable however as a long term solution is just give people the veriation to help them to keep wanting to do it and so they will have to look and doing things outside of this sort of gym, be it joining a running club, another gym, dance lessons etc etc to help keep them motivated

I joined Ultimate Woman for a couple of months and didn't find it very good at all. I was going a minimum of 3 times a week and didn't lose any weight and didn't seem to be toning up either. I'd stick to an ordinary gym or exercise classes such as boxercise or else maybe try a dvd. Davina McCall's is quiet good.

im a gym instructor in one of the ultimate woman gyms and they do work when you put in the effort in,they have depending on the gym, different resistant levels from 1-6 in our gym...also alot of the ultimate gyms have cardio machines which you NEED to incorporate into you fitness routine!
if there isnt any then there is nothing wrong with doing the 3rd circuit, you have recovery boards also where you can do aerobic exercises to keep the heart rate up also remember that circuit training is v.different to weight training! you have to put maxium effort into the circuit the quicker you move the better where as weights its the slower you go is more benefical. if you dont have a sweat built up by the 1st circuit id re evaluate your effort. gym instructors are there so make sure you can them to go through everything with you.
