'91 Peugeot 405 1.7 TD - brilliant car, very comfortable
'99 Peugeot 206 GTi - bought new, loved it
'01 Peugeot 206 CC 2.0 - traded GTi for this, loved it even more. Personalised plate 66 - made to look like CC, cheesey I know. Cops hated it
'02 Peugeot 607 2.2 HDI SE - fabulous car, very comfortable, every extra you can think of, very underrated. For sale now, cos it's time to move on!

I've had Peugeot's for 13 years now, so I think it's time to change.

From my imperfect memory, for I'm a man of contrast -

Citroën C35 (LHD, all following are LHD until the Hyundai): bigger than a Transit, no power steer, Pug 504 innards. I still have nightmares about it.

Citroën BX 1.9 D: needed a tank for formative years. So I bought one :D

Citroën AX 1.4 TZS: the best secret/wolf-in-sheep-clothing pocket rocket ever: 90 bhp for 750 kilos. Even 205 1.6 GTIs did struggle a bit to follow.

Citroën BX 1.9 TD (TZS version).

Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI ltd 'Griffe' ed.

Citroën CX 25 GTi Turbo: the thirstiest ever (20 liters+ per 100 kms )... but 240 kph in Pullman comfort

Lancia Delta Integrale HF (Evo I): madder than a bagful of horny toads! Nearly killed me, but then I emigrated and grew up... for a bit anyway :D... therefore -

Hyundai S-Coupe SEi (first RHD ever, all following are RHD) : factory-lowered, handled like a kart, on a par with the MX5 on the dry for twisty turnies... but oh-so-underpowered, even with a Turbo. Thank Mr Lotus for the chassis.

Fiat Brava 1.6 SX: the only 'big' mistake in an otherwise faultless track record ;) Nice enough to drive, but riddled with issues, from finishing through to electrics and onboard computing woes. Never bought ex-fleet since, and never again will.

Mazda MX-5 1.8is ltd 'Berkeley' ed. (current) - nothing comes close. And I've tried a few since.

Subaru 2.0 Sport (the wife's, though she'd beg to differ of course :D )

oh... and the daily runaround/commuter: EVT EV4000 electric scooter.

Shortly planned next: Piaggio X9, Yamaha Majesty 250 or Suzuki Burgman 250.

In the space of a year

(1995)Micra 'march' import missed that air conditioning when I ewent to the toyota

toyta corrolla(2001) 1.4, the most reliable thing in the world, I drove the lenght and breath of the country, incredibly boring though

audi a4(1999) 1.8, just pure luxery for me
all soft leather interior, air con, all electric, very smooth if a little heavy to drive

No, my 206 GTi rge was 99 XX 2333 if I remember, silver. Mint condition at the time of selling which was 5 years ago at this stage. So it could be wrecked by now.

What is that Spitfire like BigE. I have been looking at them over the last few weeks and they can be picked up pretty cheap in the UK. £1,200 would get you something fairly decent. And if you manage to pick up a pre-76 you'll escape VRT and tax.

What's it like to drive ? Is it very small inside ?

    Anyawy..

    The cars I have owned

    1992 Ford Escort
1995 Pug 405 - for 3 days. It met a sad end. Lucky I didn't go with it
1996 Mondeo - Served me well. I bought it with 60k on it, sold it with 165k
2002 MG ZS - Still Have - For Sale
    1999 BMW 318iS Coupe
1995 VW Corrado - Just Sold
2000 Saab 93 Turbo Coupe - Still Have - For Sale
2000 VW Passat 1.8 Turbo - Still Have - For Sale

1989 Mini - only 998CC but had all the cooper styling. Looked great but was in terrible condition - definitely a "project" car. Only lasted 6 months or so - was gutted.

2001 Peugeot 206 1.1 - Bought this new. Nice little runner, nice to have some mod-cons after the mini. Great resale too, lost very little over 2 years.

1999 VW Golf 1.4 - Wasn't mad on this car. Good few niggly problems with it - all apparently quite common with the Golf.

2000 Alfa Romeo 156 1.6 - Great car, but lost a lot through depreciation over the 2 years I had it. Lovely handling & styling, and not ONE problem.

2000 BMW 320D - current car since April: Enjoying it so far, fuel economy not quite what I hoped for though. Has cruise control and aircon which makes for a confortable cruiser on the motorways. And insurance is about 1/6th of what it was on the Peugeot 206!

    Short and sweet

86 Fiesta 1Ltr - Rustbucket held together by the paint, but still managed to get 40k miles out of it in 19 month before it all came to an end.

96 Polo 1ltr - Bought from new, 14 miles on the clock when I bought it, 96k miles on it when I finished 3.5 years later. It kinda "bumped" into a ditch..

97 1.6ltr Mondeo LX - Has served me very well, 42k miles on it when I bought it in Dec 99 and just passed the 163K miles. Still going, just a few bits and pieces need to be sorted and a good service. Gonna see can I get it to the 200k miles mark cause its not worth selling. :)

Would love a new car, but I bus it to work 4 days a week, kinda pointless to buy a nice new car and have it sitting idle for most of the week.
