Swimming without glasses

I want to learn how to swim, but I am quite s/sighted (-3). I cannot wear contacts. What solution is there? I need to be able to see the swimming instructor or else it won't be worth my while!

Are prescription swimming goggles a good solution?

    Thanks for any advice.

Yeah, that's probably you're only solution. I know people who swear by them.

It's fine, but you'll need wipers!

Ok, thanks for the advice. I can't afford swimming goggles for the moment (any idea how much they would cost?).

if you have contact lenses you could just wear those under a normal pair of goggles.
