O'Gara having another poor game, he really is having an awful tour. The accidential offside call there at the end of the half was very very harsh and Im convinced we would have scored a try Munster style, I really think we need to play a bit more conservative and start pushing the Aussies back into their own territory and relax trying to run it from everywhere. We should have and really needed some points even just 3 before halftime but this match is there for the taking.

O'Connells paws are clearly possessed by a knock-on demon. In the last three games have never see the man knock on so much ball! Is it the Summit that's doin' it, those cunning S. hemisphere mooks. We're not out of it yet but a bit worried about the tackle count. Should we stuff it up the jumper and give the slightly over elaborate back play a rest?

One more : Boss already looking more a threat than Strings!
wee need his dynamic that we also lack at 10!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 895 ✭✭✭crybaby

the lineout and O'Garas's refusal to make touch for nearly the entire game cost us in the end, we had them on the ropes after the 2nd try when we had a lineout in their 22, we lost it and from there on in we just seemed to lie down and take the beating. very disappointing that we threw away positions of dominance in all 3 test games but the biggest disappointment has been that all 3 losses have largely come from O'Garas performances we need him at his best when he is running games if we are going to beat any team from the southern hempisphere

    the final score is embarrasing

Indeed crybaby, I'm afraid alot of our pretensions exposed, fatigue factor notwithstanding. Once again we've proved we cant make that final momentous step to the big leagues

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,882 ✭✭✭Diamondmaker

well Oz made much better work of us than NZ! is that Oz for 3Nations or Ire over fatigued by the last game or NZ

BOD says Oz better than a ABs!!!

Lets put this in perspective. best scores a try (too tired to run in under the post),2 minutes later he lets Gerrard glance past him. 5mins later he is subbed:confused:

Mean what the f8ck is Eddie playing at. After we scored that try he should have made the subs. IMO the lads did play their best but were too tired, lack of rotation in the team cost us again.

    End of Story..........

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,772 ✭✭✭toomevara

Definitely no question about the lads commitment or endeavour, unfortunately graft alone will not win test matches...

very fair point re Best...good example in general about the use of substitutions! I was shocked he did not go to the posts, was completely in the clear!!

Any one know how many trie strigns has got for Munster??? ( not on Munster rugby.ie that I can find )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,882 ✭✭✭Diamondmaker

On watching the replay of Bests Try you can clearly see him slump face first into the ground on his belly in sheer EXHASTION!!!

Then as stated just burned for the try!!

The backrow was immense, well for the first 55 minutes at least. Leamy is an absolute beast, turning over twice on the line. He's also by far our fittest player IMO. He's possibly our form back rower at the moment and must feature in Ireland teams for the next ten years. Probably not at 8 though, Heaslip must play. Leamy and Heaslip in the one back row. *Froths at mouth*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 895 ✭✭✭crybaby

O'Sullivan does have a problem with replacements and Best's contribution to that try was so immense in the way that he won the initial turnover and then finished it off that maybe it blinded his view to how tired he actually was because the missed tackles for Gerrards try were fairly atrocious. I'm still baffled as to why our lineout broke down so badly in the second half although our work at the breakdown over all three tests has been incredible and Leamy played a blinder today. We are so close to being a genuine force in world rugby we're just one step up away from being able to beat the top three.

I agree the lads were pretty tried, but its not like we had all the many good players too put on. No offence to any northies but the Ulsters lads that came on(boss and the prop) were ****e. Boss hadn't a clue what he was doing. Was running around like a headless chicken, and he was the sole cause of that try off the scrum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭carlowboy

You know what the real problem is? Mike Mc Gurn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,882 ✭✭✭Diamondmaker

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Heaslip leamy and wallace but how to juggle em.
great to have heaslip on bench y
though....word impact sub surely was designed for this scenario.........seriously think of the effect of bringing in heaslip ( out of positoion slighlty ) for Wallace instead of Gleeson.
Heaslip is fast and runs with the pack and links the backs so well. Its an injenction we need like him in the dying mins ( i am assuming that he will not oust Leamy from his shirt no as long as L plays as i
    he is )
I liked Boss s few mins ( apart from poor tackle ) does offer a threat that teams know they do not have to cover for with the wee man.

Trimble growing game by game ( apart from physique:D ) Summer of Kebabs and Gym for him as he avoids marhing season!

Horgo..what can you say that not been before.
Darce..getting back on form in the line breaks
    Dric was dric.
ROG Revolvong door O gara , poor tour in general but is missed tackles in fairness probab;y blight his performance a bit than perhaps otherwise his game warranted.

any one car to run through the forwards ( black art scrymmaging is to me:confused: ) But the on the groud turn over was savage..al ot from Flan and Leamy.
POC the knock good yardage .........

    Alot done more to do!

    Who needs to go ( I hear crie of \eddie !! )

To be fair on Boss he had not a clue what to do as he landed in at the last 10 mins in a completely iunstructured game where we were chasing. Cannot judge him on that...at least he threatens!

In fairness, Leamy at 6 and Heaslip at 8 has a certain ring to it. You could interchange on scrums too. Scary.

Would agree with alot of the player ratings there, and no doubt the substitutions amounted to little more than rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic, 'cept for poor old Boss who, God love him, looked like a rabbit caught in headlights. But my problem with todays performance was the tactical naievety we displayed. We seemed at times to play a game which suited the Australians down to the ground, i.e. loose and wide while ignoring our strengths, the tight driving game. And anyone comment on the lineout, what went wrong, had the Aussies done their homework or did we have an off day? Why dont we seem to be able to change the way we play in response to developments on the field. We have the decision makers and he leaders on the field, think they should be given their head more...

Boss was put on at a very difficult time and aside from the Gregan tackle, he had a decent game, a damn sight better than Stringer at least.

Where we are f*cked due to rotation
    • Leamy
    • Foley
    • Quinlan
    • Wallace
    • Jennings
    • Best
    • Heaslip
    • Gleeson
    • Easterby
    • O'Connor
And about three more noting coming through from lower ranks. All of the above are very handy players. You want power and just power (Leamy,Foley,Quinlan,Best),grace and hands (Leamy,Jenning,Heaslip,Wallace) groundhogs (Easterby,Leamy,JOC)

In short time for Eddie to box clever. Michael Bradley has shown rotation works, time to note the cleverness and effectiveness of the "A" team and apply to the senior i reckon.

Com'on we are not goin to France next year and play all the qualifying games with the one core team with a few adjustments are we????
What the f8ck is he bringing all those players for if they aint gonna get a run, frequent flier miles perhaps?

Not saying axe Eddie but someone with a magic marker pin him to the floor and write "Subs & rotation" on his forehead

    Rant over.........................(part1)

Um, let's stop kidding ourselves - we were rubbish. Too many unforced errors, complete lack of oganisation and lack of fitness. The scoreline flattered Ireland and, despite some nice occasional bursts of play, we played terribly.

Players never competed in the lineout because the second ball came in they broke to cover the no.10 channel.

This is the same Bradley who coaches the consistently worst team in the Celtic League? Squad rotation hasn't worked for Connacht.
