Making most of gym time!

Hi all, this is quite a general query but any advice would be much appreciated.

I basically want a few pointers on making the most of my time in the gym. My goals are mainly to tone up, added strength (while not getting too bulked up!) and loose some weight. I'm 5"10 and 13.5 stone. I play alot of football and hurling which involves training at least twice a week and also a game. I would consider myself quite fit and probably be described as well built but reckon I could loose maybe a stone and was wondering how best to achive it while toning at the same time.

I want to avoid any more running etc. as am consious of tiring legs for football etc. I already do some sprinting (15 x 10sec) each morning before work.

I have an hour in the gym at lunch which I want to know how best to use. Also any dietary advice would be appreciated. I try to eat well but ignorance is my biggest problem here. Typical day would be:

    4 x weetabix at 10.30
Toasted ham and cheese sandwich on brown bread at 14.00
    Fruit salad 14.00
    Banana
Dinner 18.00 (veg, meat or soup)
    Bowl of cereal 22.00
    Plenty of water

    Cheers,

    Les

Cheers Dave, I'll check that out!

What would be the best use of 30-40 minutes regarding weights for toning?

Any general tips i.e. high reps, lower weight, type of exercises, times per week... much appreciated

    Thanks, Les

1 thing that jumped out at me there, les - cereal at 10pm is not a good idea. If you want to lose weight, you should avoid carbs for at least 4 hours before going to bed.

Ok so if you eat cereal at around 10pm...then you shouldn't go to bed until 2am? Am i right?
