Who knows... the level of use of various drugs has gone up so much i suppose we will begin to see the fallout eventually.

Lots of bodybuilders have had medical issues...and everyone likes to blame steroids ( remember that these are the same drugs used to treat patients with various illnesses all over the world ) but generally speaking the profressional bodybuilding life style that these guys are in is not really very healthy... most the training is done purely for size, the do "cardio" but only from the point of view of cutting fat as opposed to cardio vascular training.

Their diets may not be the best... sure, they are low fat but generally speaking fruit and veg would not be high on the list either.

At the end of the day though, compared to the McDonalds eating, pint swilling average dude, there would be **** all difference in life expectancy. :)

Dragan he can only train with such intensity because he has recovered quicker with the drugs.when i used to train heavy i could'nt hit the same bodypart for 5-7 days later and thats with excellent nutrition and legal supplementation and loads of sleep.

Indeed, but i'd be far happier with people doing steroids and just living there lives than doing crack and destroying other peoples.

    Just me though.

Unfortunatley when people become addicted to steroids or any drug they aint "just living their lives". They are like a ticking time bomb, upset them and your fecked.I had to take them for a while for medical reasons and even prescribed amount have an effect on your metal state.
To be honest i wouldnt be happy with either but im not comparing one with the other.Steroids used in medical practise are prescibed drugs in correct doses relating to the patients needs, not for body sculpting.

Do they not get regular blood tests if they're competeing? I know Arnie used to use them, but surely there's alot more regulations and so on, 30 years later?

Is there any evidence that RC uses steroids?

    EDIT:

    His website says the following

    http://www.ronniecoleman.net/biographyhigh.html

And, yes, say Dr. Levine and other experts, a body like Mr. Coleman's is possible without benefit of anabolic steroids. Mr. Coleman says he has never resorted to steroids, and he has passed every drug test he's ever taken, according to a spokesman for the International Federation of Bodybuilding.

The very nature of bodybuilding invites more public suspicions about steroid abuse -- a fact that annoys Mr. Coleman. Last year he quit reading Sports Illustrated after it ran a story calling steroids "the Wheaties of most pro bodybuilders."

"Once you're labeled with something, it's kind of hard to change that," he says. "It irritates us all, not just me....I'm not looking for any shortcuts."

    EDIT2:

    The IFBB website...
    http://www.ifbb.com/

has some information under "Doping Control"

hey I'm not saying that he doesn't use them, I don't know much about him other than he's massive :D, but he denies using steroids, and there's no proof that he uses them, so I don't think we should jump to any assumptions. I would imagine that competitors in Mr Olympia get tested regularly. Just speculation, though!

they stop using the drugs before they get tested so can avoid detection ,plus with designer steroids now the testers dont even know what they are looking for half the time.
Its physically impossible to get that big without illegal means.

Obviously the work that man puts in, with or without the use of steroids, we wouldn't get done in a calender month. Still though, I just think hes gross. Impressive to be fair, to show what the human body is capable of, but a bit gross nonetheles.....Dragan I can't imagine why you would want to look like him!

lol, what are you basing all of this on? Anabolic steroids can be detected up to a year after use.

greg valentino did take steroids but the reason his arms are so weird is that he pumped them with synthol, its kind of like an oil thats injected straight into the muscle to make it a appear bigger. He's an absolute disgrace to bodybuilding.

That's the guy whos biceps literally burst isn't it? He looks ridiculous, even after surgery. God knows what problems he'll have/he has from injecting steroids directly into the muscle

actually only nandalone and deca have such long detection times and in a "sport" where testing is a joke im sure theres ways of taking the longr detectable roids and having the test covered as the bodybuilding associations dont want their stars testing positive. designer roids are common and the testers dont know what to test for unless they get a sample of these designer drugs(google Balco if you arent aware).to see what is possible without anabolics etc see the natural bodybuilding sites such as www.naturalbodybuilding.com
