    i have a back problem with intermittent mild pain in my legs from a nerve.unfortunately sitting at as pc exacerbates the problem .has anyone any tips from experience before i ditch the pc.i've tried the usual stuff like sitting straight with the mouse and monitor ergonomically placed

    dont sit on a chair! sit on one of them big balls used in exercise! my ex-pilates teacher told me to try this when i had similar problems...worked for me!

    I would also suggest starting some yoga or pilates. My back has been in bits for ages thanks to spending so many hours every day at a computer. I started yoga a while ago and it has really helped. I might get one of those ball things too though if you find it works for you. Let me know:)

    A pilates ball is a good cheap idea. It is definitely worth giving it a try. The theory of the ball is that the slight changes that the muscles make to keep you balanced on the ball strengthens your postural and core muscles. It is important that you get someone to show you how to sit on it properly. (it is not as easy to sit on it improperly as it is on a chair but it can be done).

    If it doesn't suit have a look at these kneeling chairs

    They cause your pelvis to tilt forward bringing your back into a proper sitting posture.

    I would definitely recommend a pilates course to help strengthen your back and given the fact that there is a neural component involved it may be of advantage to you to get it checked out by a physiotherapist.
