with the carson everytine i bring it up to a high revs it cuts out immideatly. also it cuts out after 10m:mad: any suggestions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,248 ✭✭✭Plug

Trouble already:eek: A few things to take in mind...Ok, is your trottle/brake trim correct. Does it cut out when you apply the brakes? if so tighten the idle speed so the carb is resting against it, about a 1mm from it.
Next check out what you did to the carb, it's probebly too lean, just richen it a bit. Maybe it's a bad glow plug, most plugs go during break in.
If you continue having problems bring it back were you got it, they'll fix it;)

yeah sounds like the tuning is off, by a fair bit, do what plug said, in bought cases, I am guessing you bought it from Green Hobby & Model? if so the lads there are very helpful and will fix you up no bother ;)

Sounds to me like your engine is starving of fuel at the high revs, it maybe causing it to cut out. if its cutting out after 10min can u check the temp of the engine, i assume its a .12 or .15 you have which in my books shouldnt go much higher then 240f. if it a .21 or higher 200f max. richen them if they are getting to hot.

sounds like she's running too lean on the top end. Try richening it out bit. IE: Turn the High speed needle anti clockwise to richen the top end speed/performance.
The cutting out sounds like overheating, when it happens spit on the heatsink, if it lasts more than 3 seconds she's not overheating, on the other hand if it fries then you know she's overheating. Try using a plug that runs cooler or a fuel with less nitro, tho to be honest if she's running a bit lean top end that's bound to overheat the engine too, so if you richen it out it might solve all of your problems.

sorry when i said its cutting out after 10m i ment 10 meters. I think its the glow plug because everytime i take the glow starter off the engin cuts out.

    Yes the engine cooling head
    *edit*
It's probably flooding in that case, have you tuned the top end needle at all ?

Flooding topend needle? im such a newbie

    Liam
Take a look here Green Hobby - Frequently Asked Questions.
The first and third sections are both applicable to your situation. :)

Stick with it - running in a new engine is hard to do, you have some work and some learning involved.

I think the suggestion above to consider replacing your glowplug might also help. Even though the existing plug is not "gone" it is probably "on the way out" and it could be ok in the car (once run in) but not good enough in the car( still running in and set at extra rich)

Also - if you bring it to the shop - they will tune it in front of you, giving you an excellent chance to learn more on the art of tuning, as well as returning the settings to optimim.

did you get any engine tuning documentation with it ?? Do you know where the carburettor is ? the high end needle is used to adjust the top speed of the car. You turn it clockwise to lean out the amount of fuel that gets in to the Carburettor, too much fuel = engine flooding and cutting out. The base settings on the motor will be set to run rich to prevent you damaging the engine when you first start it and run fuel through the engine.
I attached a pic ... the high end needle is the copper cylnder with the flat head screw in it, (pardon my poor grammar) but it's easy to see, the blue fuel tubing is connected to it and on your car it should be the same more or less. When tuning the motor, turn it one eight of a turn at a time clockwise. Be careful not to turn it too far, if the engine starts to get too hot or cut out you have turned it too far, or if you dont see blue smoke at top revs then you have turned it too far, it's a matter of taking your time and getting it right. ... I could rant on and on ...

That happened to me when I was starting off, then I got the hang of it...But anyway I would diffently think it's a bad plug. Don't move the needles around when running it in or you feck up the settings.

    Wise advice.
Moving the slow needle while still running-in must rank as the single biggest problem for beginners in cars.

Can u start your car and leave it sit idling and it doesnt cut out or it is just when u drive it cuts out.
