As promised the first post... just finished on FOX and I'm still gripped... Day 6 will start Jan 2007!!!

It started a bit slow with some predictable actions, but a great finale with the President. (In particular as the preview was deceptive and I expected a different - more explosive showdown :-) )

Jack can kill some, but not others. Not sure why he was hesitating as yes, this was personal indeed.

And finally some loving for Audrey - but why is
    K i m
    phoning just that very moment???

Fantastic twist at the end. The scene for Day 6 is set.
I'm sure this was Logan's reference to "Bauer will be taken care off".... I think it shows how evil Logan really is.

    Nice touch to get
    Edgar's picture
into the last episode too. (not really a spoiler)

    Not really a slow start...
the whole submarine thing was taken care of in the opening ¼.
    Wouldn't call that slow :p

    I'm not 100% sure of
    Henserson being dead.
I mean as stated, Jack can kill some but not others even tho it was all personal. Maybe it was a ploy ala end of season4. We'll see.

Poor Martha...I mean the turmoil she musta went thru trying to keep Charles from boarding the chopper. *shudder*

Very good burn on Logan in the end tho!
Taking point: Were Mike & Martha in on 'that' plan with the
    transmitter
    ?
****ing ace look on both their faces when Logan was escorted away from the podium, especially Mike!

Ending was omfg type...was Logan that evil or did his friends higher up arrange that?

Roll on day6 and Jack doing what he does best!

    Oh..wtf
Chloe was married? and the guy is a computer genius?!
    You go girl!

Nice ending with the pic aswell...I'm assuming the
    ex
standing beside her is a view to him replacing edgar so to speak in Day6?

Brilliant season overall. Only one poor hour out of 24 for me but more than enough brilliant hours with the few outstanding hours thrown in.

    5* for the finale,

    5* for the season.

Damn that was good. Some ending too. Henderson dead or alive? I say dead, why else would Jack have gone off radio while having that conversation with Henderson? Jack knew he was going to kill Henderson and didn't want anyone listening in.

So Logan gave Jack up the the Chinese, he really does have an evil streak in him. Sets up for an interesting day 6. Unclear as to whether Martha and Mike were in on the transmitter or not. Mike telling Martha that Jack failed seemed to suggest they didn't know, but Jack would be putting a lot of faith in Martha going mental with Logan if this were the case. The wry smiles on both their faces when the Marshall's came up on stage would suggest they knew exactly what was going on.

Anyway, that's enough of a break from the TV, time to watch the final two episodes of Alias now.

Methinks Henderson is still alive. He had to disappear the way only Jack knew how (in a body bag with everyone thinking he was dead).

I was giddy during the last 20 minutes.... it was great TV. When Martha had the confrontation with Logan, I knew it was being recorded somehow... the transmitter was a cool idea.

And that ending... holy sh1t. I think it was a bit of a stretch that Jack went into the building at 6:49-ish, but was out in the middle of the ocean by 7am. :)

Lots of loose ends too... Logan still alive, baldy still alive (and still very anonymous), Mike and Aaron still alive... lots of scope for season 6.

I think the best place for day 6 to start would be 24-48 hours after day 5... they have lots of great continuity to work with.

Great ending to a great series. That twist with the pres confessing at the end was nice..
Nice to see the Chinese back again, they look like the coolest baddies, compared with your Logans, and Bierkos.. e.t.c...

I'm not sure if the reason they are keeping Jack alive, is to torture him and send him to the Chinese Gulags, or maybe they need him, to help them against the same people who masterminded all the goings on today, maybe the Chinese and Jack have a common enemy, .................... or maybe they just want to shove chopsticks up his arse..

And maybe just maybe, Jack kept his promise and Henderson is not dead, just merely severely wounded, after all Jack is a man of his word, and we all know how good Jack is at making someone disappear...

Roll on Day 6..., damn he isn't even getting a few months break this time...

Great episodes although a slightly diasapointing last few minutes in my opinion.Eh.....well I'm sure it will carry on well for 6.

Best season? Methinks so. I figured the submarine would get finished off ridiculously quickly - but time is ridiculous in this show (I mean talk about a quickie -
the Prez and Martha had sex, cleaned up and dressed and by the helicopter in eight minutes!
). If I analysed the absurbdity of time here or the laughable techie talk I'd never be anywhere...

But what fun I had. I was really wondering if
    Jack would shoot the Prez.
Really had me! I figured that
the pen had the transmitter as we focused on it a leeeetle too long beforehand
but it's still good. And how cool is
Aaron? Though he'd die - glad he didn't.
    .

I'm assuming we've met a new character at the end - it's the only reason to introduce them so late into the game.

As to the end - pretty delighted by it. Near the beginning I
was annoyed that they never seemed to talk about how they'd explain this to the Chinese and that they'd find out. And yes they did! HAH!

Oh and Hendreson dead? He better not be - he's too cool for school. Hope Jack set him up knowing that he himself was about to be set up by the Prez. We'll see!

After S4 I was ready to give up on this show. Now it's bring on S6!

that was fuppin brilliant. excellent ending, was really hoping to see something with the chinese. although come on, how obvious was the "Kim's on the phone inside the abandoned warehouse, where no-one else can see" bit. even i'm not that stupid. still kicks ass though.

8 minutes is plenty of time. its probably been a while for the pres, so 2-3 mins in bed :D then a quick change, and a minute or two journey to the chopper. i'll try test it out the next time i'm on my way to my helicptor ;)

edit...do we really need to use spoilers? it says it on the topic title

...I dont think its impossible for Jack to end up getting black-bagged (or undergo 'rendition' if you prefer that term) by the Chinese in the final minutes of the last hour. (and then next season we see some daring rescue mission...i dont see him heading back to Mexico anyways

Especially when he's being told this by the one Chinese looking secret service guy. I knew that had to be a set up since there was still 15 minutes left on the clock they had to do something.

Great series but I agre with ixoy. Some irritating things like the Mr. Stud the pres doing the business in what seemed like mere seconds between the ending of 23 and the start of 24. Also the camera focusing on the pen twice was a bit too much of a signal for me. Kinda spoiled the Pres getting his due because I expected it to happen.
Overall though great stuff. And the doc from E.R. is still at large presumably to be an even bigger part of the next series.

What did bug me about the finale was the lack of teh German agent Jack shafted bout mid day.

Unless they have plans for him next season it was a considerable waste.

oh ya the german dude... i was think as much that he would be used in another season. Like they killed off so many characters they needed to bring in a few more. Or maybe he just went back to the island to fight the "Others".

I guess the producers of such final episodes cannot win.
If you pull all the looses ends together - people will complain that it was all predictable.
If you don't and bring in some really unexpected stuff, people will complain about that too.

Actually the time thing about the final kidnapping didn't bother me too much, I thought it was really nicely done. You think they are in the warehouse and the CTU guys are coming in any minute to rescue Jack, but then they zoom out and you first think is some building until you realise they are a ship at high sea.

What really bugged me was that Wayne didn't get any airtime in the last episode - considering it was his bro that was flown out.

I predict Wayne will play a major part Jacks rescue mission, which will be either lead by the VP or (Pres) Heller - depending how far in the future Day 6 will be. And Cloe's ex-husband will play some part in as well.

Or The Chinese brainwash and turn Jack and send him back to the US as a double agent. :-)

i'm hoping that its gonna be henderson trying to rescue jack, on the orders of secretary heller, maybe with the help of wayne palmer (although wouldnt be so sure about him)

i was convinced, in the last minute or two, that wayne was gonna kill logan at the funeral. from the way the camera was moving, it seemed like someone was watching from the shadows or something like that.

Yes,this was a great end to a very good season. Far better than last and maybe even the best season overall.

The sub was taken over really fast, with a little help from a naval officer who looked like he was 15. Henderson is dead! Jack shot him twice, and I think the paramedics or soliders would have checked to make sure.

Glad to see the president get what was coming to him, although I would have like to see him get knee capped :p

well played with the wire on Logan, and the smiles from martha and Mike at the end were great. aaron is cool as well, glad they didn't kill him off. Pity Wayne Palmer wasn't in it. I half expected him to kill Logan with a sniper rifle at the funeral.

And at the end scene I though Audrey would be blown away. She was wearing a nice white dress for the blood...seemed like it might happen :p
But no,China never forgets :) Good ending,it will be interesting to see where they go with it next year. Will it take place in China? Or on the barge? Either way I liked how they got him from a warehouse onto a boat sailing away,in under 5 minutes :)

I think we can all agree at this stage that there is a bit of leeway with the time format. I'm glad they have screwed with it slightly as it gives more room for movement on some storylines without being too outside of the timeframes.

I loved the finale. Yes, the pen was obvious but I think it actually added to the episode because you knew what was coming and it was class. Can't wait for next season. There's so much potential.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,757 ✭✭✭masterK

I thought the capturing and downfall of Logan was all too predictable, once he was seen putting the pen in his pocket it was kinda' obvious what would happen. I was expecting much explosive events leading to Logans capture.

Otherwise it was an excellent series and well set up for next year.

I was expecting a hidden fox camera crew in the hanger, as Mike was looking at the news on his phone.
I think it became a bit obvious that there was some sort of recding going on

Excellent ending. I thought Jack might have swapped Logan's pen with a transmitter at some point, so I wasn't too far off. But I did not expect the Chinese to come out of the shadows (literally) like that.

I thought Mike telling the first lady that Jack had failed was her signal to try trapping him herself. Like plan b.

Loads of loose ends, but if Day 6 is going to start one second after Day 5 ended then all those loose ends must come back into play: the german agent, Wayne, the guys in the office with the bluetooth headsets. And what happened to the veep, Aaron, Heller.

I kinda think that this whole season was part 1 and next season is part 2, and all loose ends will be tied up neatly.

That was a very unnerving end to the season. Glad that Logan finally got busted, though when he slapped Martha we saw an evil, sadistic side to him that we never really thought existed.

I was thrilled to see Martha and Mike smiling triupmhantly when Logan was being taken away.

Cool picture of Chloe and Edgar too.

Frankly, I think that when Jack said "Kill me..." he finally admitted that he was a broken man. It was like how the last season ended, and you wonder how he'll be able to come back from it.

Maybe not as brilliant as 1 or 2, but definitely better than 3 or 4. Roll on 6! :D

i watched the final hour last night again on Sky.

Bill & Karen, so much sexual tension!

i hope we see Chloe's ex in next series, he was funny. We'll need a good few replacements for main CTU workers really,
i know Tony & Michelle were technically already gone.. but no Edgar either.
i hope Bill stays as director, he got cooler as the series went on :D

As for our Jack, well.. he's jack bauer, so we know he wont die soon.. hhmm.

Imagine Martha Logan turned into a Sherry Palmer type character, who just kept reappearing.. gah..

Yeah, if I may junst add to the point made earlier about Henderson - he's dead. Gone. Finito.

Taken from the Fox.com recap of 24:

"He pulls the trigger and the gun clicks. Henderson realizes he’s been had, and he removes the empty clip from his gun. Jack accuses him of killing his friends Palmer, Tony and Michelle. Then he shoots Henderson dead."

I don't know why there's so much debate over that.

Great season, even if perhaps a little bit of a halfpipe.

First 4 episodes were amazing, climaxing with the rescue of the hostages from the Airport. Enthrawling television that had me shaking at certain points.

Then it started to slip up a bit with the nerve-gas threat. Yeah Bierko was pretty cool but I just didn't see a few cans of gas as being quite up to the standard of potential devastation as other weapons in previous seasons. I was used to nuclear bombs, deadly viruses, power plant meltdowns and.... more nuclear bombs!! And to be honest, would you really give a f00k if some mall got nailed and a few hundred fat old people die? Not really. Sounds more like a job for Lois and Clark.

Then CTU was attacked and the whole Logan twist began to emerge. This was a very nice addition and at this point it was uphill all the way for the season. You finally got the feeling that you were watching 24. Genuine insurmountable authoritative corruptness, combined with limited resources and peers that think Jack is a loose cannon (or at least, as usual, for while). Perfectly set-up.

The plane hi-jacking was great, as was the whole "who is this bald man who is clearly too evil to hold his phone to his ear?" Bierko also gave us a proper 24 threat in taking over a submarine with war-heads and Jack getting taken away by the chinese at the end leaves the door open perfectly for a follow-up season over the next few days. It could also be possible that this is where we will see the film focus, given that I hear it is supposed to be more of a summary of events over 24 hours, packed into 2 hours, allowing for plane travel and such other activities for the main characters that would be too time consuming in a regular season.

Also, Pierce and the First Lady, I thought, were brilliant in this season and will hopefully make a triumphant return in some form of motel or other place copulation ;)

I hope Wayne Palmer will make a return also. Just when I got to the point where I trusted him to having no part in the day's evil deeds, he pretty much vanished. Or could the reason for his disappearence be just that? He is actually a force behind all of this, and perhaps consipring with Joe Bald and his army of Bluetooth lovers? We'll see.

I don't know if anyone was in the same boat as me, but this was the first season I had to watch on TV. Yeah, I was spoiled. Had seasons 1 - 4 on DVD. They were a gripping two weeks I can tell you!

So I don't think I can fairly compare this season with the other 4 as the experiences were so completely different. Though it must be said that I will not be waiting for season 6 to come out on DVD, but more than likely will opt to watch it on TV. Won't be able to stand it going on in the background and me having to wait!!

well, my days of being spoilt are well and truly over, started off the year with Season 1 right through on dvd and last night watched the last 2 episodes of 5. With them all fresh in my memory I have to say 5 was the best.
I taped the season 6 prequel so watched that straight afterwards.
Fantastic show, just gonna be a gutter to have to sit through ads and wait a week between epsodes, watching 3/4 epsiodes a nite was better than any movie, only consolation is that Season 6 will be in HD very soon after the US airing......now onto my backlog of Alias season 4/5, Prison Break Series 2 todate
