The bannings are laughable. gandalf was moaning about why so many United fans were supporting Barca so I gave my exact reasons and got banned. Absolute joke.

And as i said in the "other" thread, i have still a few hundred pages to read tru. But the gist of the banning is that you were acting like a child trying to get others to rise to you. Others may have done so i havent got that far yet.

Its the same for the others who were banned altho some are more blatant than others. If the admins feel an injustice has been carried out im sure the ban will be lifted.

The reason I press you on this is because I think it's a bull**** banning with no foundation except that somebody reported it, you saw it, went oh no no no, that appears to be flame baiting because somebody reported it, and then banned me for a week.

I'm sure if the admins do feel its unjustified they would overturn it, but i'd like to know why you think it was justified, rather than just a simple assertion that it was.

I'm only referring to my own post here, I don't know anything about the other posters or why they were banned.
Except one, which I reported, which was due to a clearly racist remark about Ronaldinho. So in that case, it is definally not the same as the others. There you are banning for abuse, while in this case, you are banning because you think it is trolling.

I was not trying to get a rise out of anyone, I was clearly stating my reasons why I supported Barca for the game. And if gandalf can't take that on the chin then as you said, he should know better him being one of the higher ranked mods/admins here.

If anyone was doing any trolling it was clearly gandalf. And you can't say you missed that KdjaC, because I had quoted it.

To be honest if PHB was banned for that post I think it's extremely harsh. The soccer forum has become like a primary school where nothing seems to be allowed anymore. I appreciate that the soccer forum is somewhat harder than most forums to moderate but really, fair enough if there's abuse - ban, but surely the normal soccer banter should be allowed. If not then you may as well lock the forum and throw away the key because it will become a waste of space/bandwidth.

P.S. Back to the old sponsership system methinks.

The bans were very harsh. The comments that PHP highlighted that went unpunished indicates an imbalance in the attituded towards certain users.

It's not the first time United supporters have been singled out for "special treatment" here but I had hoped the soccer forum had moved on from there.

Interestingly I am yet to see any of Gandalfs posts on the soccer forum reported and believe it or not, I do not read every post in every thread.

TBH I would have no problem banning Gandalf, or ecksor or DeVore if it came to it, but give us a hand at least, if you want a post reviewed report it, if you do not and then please do not cry foul when you see some imagined injustice.

I don't really think gandalf's post warrents banning, but it is more banworthy than my post, but I'm still not sure why I was banned. And it still hasn't been explained, except that it's 'trolling', despite my asking what part, and no response being given.

Ultimately if you are going to hold this standard, which appears to be just whatever you feel like, shouldn't you hold it to all people who post on the thread?

Also, I'd imagine by now, that you've seen gandalf's post on this thread, since you know, you've read it. So have you made your mind up yet? Are you going to ban him?

Are you seriously suggesting that just because someone else got away with something you "claim" was the same as what you did, that you shouldn't be punished? That's not how it works.

Moderators have discretion, they don't have to apply the rules in the same way to everyone. It's a case by case thing, you should know this, being one.

In general one mod will not over turn another mods decision, It's a bad example to set.

This thread is not about me but for the record I,m in a better position to comment than you are, it's not that long ago that you were banned for posting abuse and trolling.

Gandalfs post was not reported because it was banter the same as the stuff the other guys got banned for. Real soccer fans are well used to and none of it merits a banning.

It's obvious that the current rule structure is being used to point score, maybe it's time for yet another rethink.

If I recall correctly this zero tolerance has stemmed from the ban on calling man united fans "scum" but it has got to the point where we have seen users banned for calling a manager an idiot and even less offensive stuff. It appears to me that the thinking behind the current rules is right but would it be possible to have the banning line moved back a wee bit to allow a certain amount of banter. At the moment everything is black and white maybe a little grey is what is needed.
