    hi guys,

looking for a bit of advice of these shakes. I do training (cardio/weights) 2-3times a week in the gym, and am thinking of using protein shakes to boost the muscle development. Ive looked at a few sites and they seem very expensive, are they worth it? how often should they be consumed? and where's the best place to buy them? sorry thats a lot of questions...

    cheers.

If it's just a pure protein shake you're after there are plenty on the market. Im biased here but Pro-X is a good whey supplement, cheaper than most too. Optimum is also a good brand.

Im not a big fan of Maximuscle, it's tough on the system IMO. Probably the best marketed though.

It'll be a moot point for what you're getting them for but they taste like ****.

Someone recommend to me that I stop using a protein shake (Brand is Relfes, Instant Whey) and start using a weight gain.

    Whats the difference?

I'm 5'6" slim, and have a despite been fairly defined I could be described as having a fairly light build.

A weight gain shake contains far more calories than a whey shake, thats really the basic difference.

The bad ones have those calories coming from sugar and bad fats.
The okay one have them coming from carbs like maltodextrin.
The best ones have them coming from carbs like heat activated barely and oats.

I suggest you post your diet, and your workouts and we work away from there. Taking supplements is a moot point if your diet is poor and your effort isn;t there in the gym.

In your opinion whats the best gainer on the market? I used to love Mammoth 2500, but its packed with sugar.

I sell cyclone for €40, and whey (ON 100% whey) is €40 for 5lbs or €75 for 10lbs... Fitness Ireland = rip off.

I like to mix a bit of Casilan 90 in with my whey shake,it delays the absorbtion rate and makes the whey go further as well.
If you're gonna buy from anywhere, get it from Easygainer..

Not really guys, while Easygainer does with out a doubt some great prices it's all about who you know at the end of the day. ;)

Just because Jon can get stuff cheaper than that may not mean it is available to the general public or anything.

Two friends of mine are in the process of setting up their own supplement shop. Two guys involved in nutrition and sports training most of their lives. They are of the people! ;)

They've been working hard on deliverying good quality supplements with lower prices in mind.. however time will tell!
