Injury Query

I joined a Gym last week. I went three nights in a row and I gave it welly. The thing is I may have done too much too soon because now I can't walk. I seem to have pulled something in my heel of all places, I cannot lean on my right foot. I did quite a bit on the treadmill, does anyone have any idea how to avoid this happening again and know of any remedies etc. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Yeah, don't do this...

...again :D . Seriously, obviously the novelty factor is high at the moment but training longevity is more important than anything else. That means ease into it and act like you're in it for the long haul.

For the moment just rest up and ice your heel when you can. If you think it's anything serious then see a physio. If the pain goes away in a few days then it's probably OK. Leave it a few more days again to make sure and then go back training but taking it easy this time. 3 nights a week is probably plenty.

Were you incline running on the treadmill?

Where abouts is the pain? Is it at the back of your heel (achilles tendon) or on the bottom of your heel (sole pf the foot)?

What kind of footwear were you wearing?

Lastly do you land heavily/lightly on the toes of your foot or on your heels whe you are running?

As t-ha said for now just ice it and rest. Take it easier in the gym your body needs time to recover between sessions. Talk to your instructor about a more balanced programme.

It may take a wee bit more than a few days to clam down depending on what you hurt.
