What Tournaments would you like to see at this lan?

There's 60 people going but only about 20 people have voted....
Do half of them even know there's a Galway LAN thread on Boards???

Just seems to me the only people who could know, are people who've gone to GL before, as there's been no official mention of it on room101 this time round.

Again, I don't think ye should run both a q3 AND qw tourni, one or the other, we barely get the low number of tourniments run at lans as it is.

Again also, my vote is for qw as a number of people are coming who *only* play qw so wouldn't be interested in q3, as well with qw servers being easier to manage, and clients easier to install/run.

If skill comes into it it'll go down to a few players [pyr0, MP, others, perhaps even me in q3, me, MP, Stev, Ronin (?) in qw..] regardless so my client/server reasons are cause for my preference..

Quetzal if thats the case I can see that q3 will be the more popular choice of the two. I guess you can organise a qw tourney for you guys. Perhaps a 1v1. There would be no point in me playing it as I'd get knocked out in the first round.

So now that that is sorted who thinks q3 should be a 2v2 and who thinks it should be a 1v1.

A101, I know that we are only getting something like 1/3 of the people's votes, but it gives us an indication. I posted these threads on r101 anyway a good while ago.

But...why? Qw has more dedicated players playing it (both going to the LAN and in ireland in general) and it's easier to setup/run...would this be something to do with you playing q3 and not qw yourself, sniipe? Tisk, tisk, tisk, Quetzal, there are more wanting to play q3. Surely you can arrange the qw competition. A 1v1. We can even create a tourney page for it. Its just that you will have to get the people to play. But it mustn't interfere with the other tourneys. Its easy enough getting 2 ppl to play at a time.

Sniipe does the fact that your pushing a q3 tourny have that, you cant play qw and prefer q3?... i would say there will be alot of qw going on at this lan due to the fact that there is alot of qw players(people who play or used to play, and will play at the lan), i myself is gonna play it a bit. there has always been a qw tourny, with fewer people and now there will be even more qw players at this one, so shoulndt we have a qw tourny?.

Toxick, u know I'm not like that. I'm not going to stop QW. There will be plenty of time. The polls show that q3 is more popular. Thats just it. I'll help organise a QW tourney and may even play but I'll not be responsible for it. What more can I offer?

well by you being the orginser for tournys, i would have thought you would of put a game on the poll that was played at every lan. QW isnt even on the poll. if there is a demand then there should be a tourny. just saying

The "other" is still not as big as the q3 vote?

12 for Q3 and 9 for Other(which includes qw) - The polls only alow for 10 items. I would have put in QW otherwise.

I understand everyone hasn't voted.

Say what you will about QW tournies, there are obviously a lot of players coming who'll play it, but overall Q3 will probably get more players from a "Ah, tournament in an hour, install q3, grand. Point-click-die" standpoint whereas qw isn't quite as accessible.

Players should have Q3 installed and patched with mods long before the lan is even on.

Perhaps a page with the list of people signed up for each tourney is in order. I also think that I'm signed up, but I did receive some obscure error message (which has slipped my mind) when I first tried. Perhaps it's not registering for some people leading to an apparently low signup rate?

More likely explanations are that people don't check the boards enough or they can't find/don't know about the signup link as it's buried under mountains of text.
