    Hey all,

Was wondering what you think about drinking alcohol whilst on Creatine, do you see any problems later on down the road.

Now its been a few years since i have taken creatine but i know when i was on it and i had a few beers on a Saturday, i did get dehydrated more. Not good for the kidneys me thinks.

What you reckon, just curious really, as it seems to be takingoff in a big way these days, youngsters in my gym 16 + taking it now.

    Anyway, opinions please

"my gym 16" Is your Gym called "Gym 16" or are the youngsters 16 years old. I'm only asking because if the former is true, It could be a reference for Dublin 16, where I am currently seeking a gym to frequent.

Will having a beer with steak leave you with problems down the line?

Just because the creatine comes in powder form does not change this factor. It is innocuous, but alcohol and creatine at same time is stupid as alcohol degrades creatine.

I used to take creatine, and did a shed load of research on it.

Everything I read said "don't drink alcohol while taking creatine". The reasons were either -

The alcohol will stop the creatine from working properly
    or
Creatine alters the electrolyte balance in your body (or something like that) which means you need more water. The dehydration from alcohol is obviously not good.

I would rather play it safe and give up the alcohol for a bit. The fatter wallet will also be a bonus! :)

Drinking will mess up your training/ diet whether you're on creatine or not. Aside from the extra calories and toxcins in beer, the dehydrating effects will lessen the effects of the training you've done that day and you more than likely wont train with your normal intensity or eat properly while nursing a hang over.

Alcohol's gonna dehydrate you either way: The fact that you're taking creatine wont make any difference. So i wouldnt change drinking habit just because you're taking creatine.
