    Sweeeeeeeeeetttttt!
Sally will drop nightshade into Dr. Finkelstein's tea in 3-D come Halloween, when Walt Disney Pictures releases a digitally remastered version of "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas." The digital release of the 1993 stop-motion animated classic is set for Oct. 20. "Nightmare" marks the second digital 3-D theatrical release from Disney after "Chicken Little" did banner business last year in digital 3-D on 84 U.S. screens at 81 locations. The digital 3-D boxoffice returns outperformed the standard screenings nearly 3-to-1, according to Disney estimates.

    Source!

Heh.. the last 3D movie i saw was 'Freddys Dead' which was just 3D was about 15 minutes and boy... it was a thriller!

But i lurrvvve 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' so i hope we get a DVD release or something for this!

Oh yeah.. in some respect, i think that'd be even better though!

3D (as in "glasses and wow.. i can see the music") is quite dead but 3D animation is far from it!

Do you mean to tell me that people actually like this movie? I saw it in the cinema when it was originally released and to this day I still fail to see the attraction. Just so we're on the same page here, this is the movie with a scarecrow as Santa right? Or am I thinking of something else? That was a precious hour and a bit that I'll never get back :(

Not while Robert Rodriguez insists on releasing terrible movies in 3D every now and then.

And JohnK, this is the film about the Pumpkin King who has Santa Claus kidnapped and tries to replace him. It's a very charming film with some wonderful animation and designs and some great songs in it... much better than the recent Corpse Bride, which was fairly charmless and had very forgettable songs.

Is the game any good though?

I was gonna pick it up one day, but decided not to.

This sounds like it could be very cool.. but would it not lose some of its charm moving from being claymation to being 3D, or did I misread this thread?

If I didn't hate Tim Burton I might get excited, but I do, so I'm not.

I was going to post a new thread on this and then I can across this one. I was just reading the release dates for this on IMDB and according to them it was released in the UK on the 17th of November

Whats the F**KING story with this film ? Would Beuna Vista distribution be able to shed some light on it ?

"The Ticket" had an article on 3D and apparently only Dundrum is equipped with the correct technology (namely digital projectors) to display it properly, hence why it's out there. They also have a silver screen which aids the whole thing.

Whatever the hell happened to this country being the first to go fully digital in cinemas, I don't know...

Perhaps that Imax incident soured us all.

Perhaps the silver screen thing is correct but the Ormonde in Stillorgan have digital projectors- Ive seen them and in operation. So Dundrum ain't (also Movies@Swords probably has em if Dundrum has 'em) the only place. My reckoning is that they made a deal with Beuna Vista for exclusive screening rights.

*EDIT* By the way, the screening was amazing. I even put aside my contempt for Dundrum cinema and completely immersed myself in the show. The 3d is so well done, especially Oogie's Lair, and it was great to see one of my favourite movies on the big screen in a beautiful print. (or whatever if it's digital)

The SGC in Dungarvan and, i think, the cinema in Enniscorthy have digital projectors too.
