Can the ink be refilled somewhere like cartridgeworld, or do you have to get specialist cartridges?

yeh you can get them refilled about €20 for black and €30 for colour but the quality isnt great and they dont last as long.tried refilling them myself but it was a disaster:D i think the ink for dell printers are the most expensive.

are you sure about this. i went to cartridge world and said no to me.it was for a different model dell printer .have you got it done before and if so by who.thanks

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy 10 of the printers and throw them away as you use them :)

Not saying its very enviromentally friendly, but you could sell them on ebay for a quid each and also get feedback ..

these places say they do dell cartridges not sure about the 810
tri colour ink for the 810 €20.99 on the dell site.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,042 ✭✭✭kaizersoze

This printer only takes 1 ink cartridge (Tri-colour). There is no black cartridge.
This makes refilling them a non runner as you wont get the correct pigments and the results will be crap. €20.99 for an genuine cartridge is not bad as you only have to buy 1 cartridge.

Those particular cartridges have been re-done in the last few months and now have a bit of technology in them that prevents them from being refilled. If you have an older one of the same cartridge of that kind in a different printer, then it's possible it may be refilled. You'll never know unless you bring it to whereever, get it refilled, and insert it in the printer and the printer either recognises it or it doesnt.

The refills shouldnt cost 20 for black and 30 for colour. More like 16-18 for black and 18-20 for colour, or around that mark.

The correct inks are available, with the correct dyes and pigments, but the cartridge itself is the culprit.

I refilled the 720 with reasonable success. Only problem was the ink i used started to block the heads eventually.

Probably not worth bothering with if they are impossible to fill now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭Bamboozled

If you've refilled one before, its got the old tech in it so it can be refilled many times. If you're gonna try on a new version, then they're all being used once and thrown out. I'm on about the cartridges that fit the one mentioned in the original post. Cant remember if the 720 takes the same one or one with a different top.

Blocked heads can be cleaned ;)

Although, If you use the correct type of ink there's less chance of it happening and they burn out instead eventually.

Got 2 for €37 inc delivery. It's not a bad price ... cartridges will last a while with light usage and the scanner will be useful too.

    Cheers for the link.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,785 ✭✭✭✭Paul Tergat

Do you get a cartridge included in the price? or do you have to pay extra for it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,080 ✭✭✭✭Random

    @p_larkin99
You get one, but it's not full .. they call it a "demo cartridge". With occasional use the last "demo" cartridge I got lasted about 3 months.

and in Dell US, it starts at $69 :(linkey

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,844 ✭✭✭✭cormie

This looks pretty good, it definitely works out at €25 delivered inc vat so? I'm sure you could probably sell it for that if they cost $69 on the US site! Don't forget, there's still a scanner and copier:) How does it scan? Is it flatbed?

This definitely isn't another Dell price mistake that wont be honoured?

Yep. €25.85 all-in but don't forget to remove the USB cable from the configuration. It's a flatbed scanner, just lift the lid on the top.
The copier function is "standalone" so you can do a copy without turning on the PC.

Thats very good.Do you get everything with it like cables etc.is it ready for use once it arrives to the door

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,080 ✭✭✭✭Random

You don't get the USB cable (unless you pay extra!!).. most people have them lying around if not you can pick them up for next to nothing (cheaper then Dell anyhow ;) ) in your local PC shop.

For my 3 I got a subtotal of 19.08, Freight 27, VAT 9.68, total 55.76 - looks like their billing system is a bit screwy alright..
