If you had €1,000 spare, what would you buy?

Have some cash coming my way and want suggestions on how to spend it!

No. It's your conventional wired system. Have some great cables I could throw in for free as well..

Boring I know but if I came into €1,000, I'd use it to knock a small dent in my bank loan.

If I just got €1000, and it was like a cash prize, or money thats just a bonus...i'd go to Dublin and buy all the little bits n pieces you always wanted but keep puttin off!!
eg DVD's, games, clothes, dinner at Captain America!!!, those electricity balls, lovely socks etc!!

You'll enjoy spending it more than a holiday or anythin fancy!!
Pretend you never got it in the 1st place, and you're just up all this cool stuff!!!

    but thats just me.....

second that. I'd do exactly the same except I wouldn't put windows anwhere near a Mac. OS X Tiger does a fine job on it's own. I already have a PowerPC based mini - they rock.

Buy something you would like that might appreciate like a piece of art, movie prop or start a collection of something so the money keeps giving you pleasure.

So far most things have been consumables.

I just have to wonder about my €25k I am getting next month:D Got to love the SSIAs anybody who doesn't have one is really kicking themselves now.

I'm not trying to be funny/annoying, but why do you feel you should spend this money?

Anyway! To answer your question, I'd spend it on a holiday. Africa or South America or somewhere like that!

The sensible option would to put it off my loan. The not-so-sensible option would involve the acquisition of an Xbox 360 and PSP. :)

A good weekend of gambling drinking and whoring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,467 ✭✭✭smemon

i'd buy €1000 worth of euromillions tickets for 1 week.

imagine what you could do with €15MILLION minimum :)

plus you'd probably win it all back in small amounts even if you didnt win the real thing, then just keep spending all the winnings until you do win it.

Holy Jaysus, someone call Eddie Hobbes, quick.

*affects Eddie Hobbes accent* The people saying 'oh, buy DVDs, clothes, computers' are wrong, just wrong.

Seriously, that kinda junk is ok for a €50 - €100 splurge, but the brand spanking new PC/Mac of today becomes so-much skip-fodder in 4 years time.

Unless you are seriously into gaming, or want to render your own Holywood blockbusting animated movie in real time, bleeding edge PC/MAC technology is a complete waste of money.

If you like a bit of a gamble with a bit of security, then open a trading account with an American online broker and buy some stocks! It's a great way to learn about how the evil opressive capatalist system works, plus, you might make a million with your initital investment 10 years down the road!

Just think of the hours and days and weeks of fun you can have obsessing over what stock will go up, and what stock will go down, checking your portfolio and position every day, etc, etc, it's the gift that keeps on giving!

You could stick the money in the bank, but Irish investment products are deathly dull.

I'd buy a really good digital camera. Or do something really exsciting and pay off my credit card. Actually, HELP pay off my credit card.

TBH, if I just got €1000 I wouldn't go out looking for something to buy. Put it away for a while and wait for something you really want to come up and buy it.

Throw it all on Justified and Asian Maze to win tomorrow at Punchestown ;) Nah seriously, you should book yourself a holiday in the sun for a week. I'm off to Malaga at the end of May and it's only costing me 300 euro for flights + accomodation.
