    Hi,

I wouldn't worry too much if it is your first time they will not expect you to know much and if they are really 'seasoned' it will not be a problem as it is quite usual to sail with novices.
My advice would be to either buy a basic sailing book (I think this is the better option) or look up some websites, as you will learn a huge amount more from the day if you know the basic principles and terms.

The type of clothing to bring depends mainly on the weather but the rule in general is to pack as much as possible so that you can pick the most suitable stuff on the day. I'd bring waterproofs/windbreakers and small wellies/shoes that you don't mind getting wet. Hat and gloves are essential. Its when the weather is very rough that you need good sailing gear but I doubt you'll go out if its really windy/wet. Just don't turn up in a pair of jeans!
