Lived in Boston for a while in the late 90's so would have a soft spot for the Red Sox but I mainly support the White Sox as my cousins in Chicago have converted me (go over every summer and usualy go to a match or two). As they say over there CUBS SUCK!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,046 ✭✭✭Dustaz

    Yanks.

They won a world series in the 70's during my first visit to NY, so it was hard to avoid a connection. Despite some friends forcing me to go to a few mets games during the strawberry era, just couldnt shake that initial bond with the yankees.

    Red Sox Nation baby!

Was in Boston the week they won the Series 2 years ago and got caught up on the whole thing and am slowly educating myself.

For RS fans I recommend this book that I am reading at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 309 ✭✭Manny7

    Hey BigDragon,

That Bill Simmons book is excellent, well worth the cash. Avoid the Stephen King Faithful one though, I thought it was dreadful; no insights, no good writing, just reams about where he sat at each game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 495 ✭✭The Insider

Blue Jays fan here as I lived in Toronto for a while, have a soft spot for Boston as was in Toronto when they finally laid the curse to rest. I have read the Stephen King book and it was rubbish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,678 ✭✭✭jjbrien

The Mets they rule nice 13-4 win last night. If we keep it up we will win the league. The teams form has been outstading so far this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,390 ✭✭✭galwaydude

The red sox all the way. Unfortunately they had a bad loss last night against the yankies.Damn you curt schilling. Will prob loose tonight as tim wakefield is pitching and his record is bad so far this season.

    Blue Jays fan here.

I lived in Toronto for a while and watched my first game there, so I feel duly obliged to support them.

Was over there last week and have to say I'm converted. What a stadium, and the team are doing fairly well these days too. They've 7 games against the Yankees towards the end of July and start of August that could have a huge bearing on their season, so it should be interesting to see how they fare.

I love it over there, I've been back for a couple of holidays since and I'm going to try and go back later this year.

The Jays are having a good season, they're hitting has been excellent Reed Johnson is doing very nicely, Rios has stepped up big time this year and Wells is getting better all the time. Along with the new additions they're becoming a very good ballclub.

If Burnett stays healthy and pitches like we know he can...... well big things might happen !:)

Big Cubbies fan. Lived beside Wrigely Field for four months last summer and got majorly hooked. Going to the games is such a great buzz. Yeah they suck as a team but sure I support Man City as well so I'm used to it!

Love Derek Jeter too. What a hero.

    Cubbies fan!.
Were going all the way next year!

Did anyone track down the bartman yet or is there still a contract on his head?.

Ha ha I was cheering on Jeter in that game in Chicago last year in a room full of Cubs fans. The silence when he pinged the ball was only broken by my over excited celebration that nearly had me killed. Good times!

    Go Padres

One of the best stadiums ive been at on the west coast (although possibly the worst name)

Huge Red Sox fan. Born and raised in Boston. But now that they have no chance of making the playoffs I'd really like to see the Mets win the Series. And yes, I hate the Yankees.

I actually just took the tour of Fenway Park for the first time in August when a friend flew over from Dublin. It was quite interesting. And I got to sit in the Monster Seats. Probably the only time I'll ever get to do that! :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 565 ✭✭✭free2fly

Woo hoo! HRs number 51 and 52 of the season! That man is unstoppable. Too bad this is only bright spot in the season this year for the Sox :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 105 ✭✭MogwaiFearSatan

    Red Sox.

got hooked while a J1'er in Boston many moons ago. I’ve spent a lot of time in Boston over the following years and caught some great games. finally moved here full time in Jan and made 15 home games (very sore wallet) this season and am already planning Paddys Day in Fort Myers.

    Red Sox

My father is from Rhode Island and so himself and the family got me watching games on holidays when I was a kid. Managed to get over to Fenway a couple of times since then and NASN keeps me going in the meantime.

I'm a Red Sox fan...was living in Boston for 6 months last year, and 3 months the year before. It only takes about 5 minutes to be brainwashed though. Had tickets to a game against the Yankees at Fenway, good seats too but of course it was rescheduled to a daytime fixture on a week day! Made a handsome profit off my ticket though since the original game was early season and the rescheduled one in August!

    Let's go Red Sox!

It was indeed...think I made 350% profit on the tickets too! Oh well, they might have been closet Yankees fans, who knows!

    Toronto Blue Jays.

Lived there for 8 years and was fortunate to be there when we won back to back World Series in 92-93.

Joe Carter's 3-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning vs Philly in 93 will live with me till the day I die. Pure poetry.

Interesting to see how Frank Thomas will do with us next season. Still think we're a little light in the no. 3 starter position on our pitching roster but hopefully the likes of Marcum and Towers can really step it up this year.

Would love to see us reclaim the AL East this year but think it will still be a struggle against the bloody Yankees and Red Sox. Ah well, at least spring training is only a couple of months away!

We're growing in numbers! The addition of John Thomson for next to nothing might prove to be a very good move.

Hopefully. Marcum and/or Towers have to step up this year or they may never make the grade.

Did you say you lived there as well? Whereabouts?
