It aint the first public skate park! One in Dunshaughlin nearly done too! Good news

The official build schedule is actually 10 weeks
    - but they're hopin for a quicker build.
Good people involved & da plans have been tweaked & retweaked so should keep most people happy

No offence to Dunshaughliners but I know where I'd rather be skatin!!!
    Still, the more the merrier....

Bushy could well be a MONSTER as Geth Noble (Airspeed designer/builder) is gettin his way which means it'll be BIG & GNARLY
Its gonna be a good summer

I don't know about pad rules or admission charges if any.

It is a slightly changed version of the potters barn design.

Every park up to now has been a modular ramp skate area including the dunshaughlin park this will be the first in hopefully a future wave of PROPER CONCRETE SKATEPARKS.
Heres some photos of the begining of the end of a 30 year wait!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 466 ✭✭moonboy

do people think this will be full of people? like too full?and more specifically less advanced skaters and children and stuff? or has the skate buzz died down?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 150 ✭✭f

maby at first but itll die down later, theres still good skatin goin down , there gonnn be a openin jam , dont know the date though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭shagman

Adiobam I think Bushy park will be more to your liking. Allthough Lucan is a far more street orientated design it does still have a nice transitioned end with a hip, blasting over the roll-over and launching an air over the hip is preety damn pool skater....theres some rad lines to be had I reckon.

i was talkin to the engineer for lucan skate park and he reckons another month before opening!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭shagman

I took a trip to Dunshaughlin today the concrete pad is down for their park but no ramps yet. It's a similar size to the galway park and is smooth floated concrete so should skate well depending on what ramps they use.
I think these might work what do people think??? >>>>

They are precast concrete modular ramps , not as good as a custom concrete park but probably better than skatelite/steel modular ramps.
Anybody skated this park Kings Norton UK or anything similar?

Finish date on Bushy looks to be August so Lucan looks like it will win the race to be Irelands first skatepark.

No there will be a small entrance fee, probably around a fiver, there will be supervision and closing times, helmets will be compulsary, pads will not be, the entrance fee is to cover staff wages and maintenance costs.
I just got back from a session in the park, still alot of rubble lying around but it rolls really well and is excellently built!
