    Hey everyone,
    Just a few questions.
Well first off i'm 5'5 and 159lbs. Overweight I know.

I'm trying to lose 2 lbs a week which to me seems healthy until i'm my goal weight of 130 (which I hope to get lower the more I lose).

So if I do this how much do you think I can lose by july 1st.
    Breakfast:
Smoothie (just fruit ice and juice)

    Snack:
    Water

    Lunch:
    Healthy Choice Soup, Veggie/Fruit, Water

    Snack:
    Water, Veggie/Fruit + water

    Dinner:
    Something healthy. + water

    Exercise:
Monday: 3 mile walk, 8 min abs
Tuesday: 3 mile walk, 8 min abs
Wednesday: 3 mile walk, 8 min abs
Thursday: 3 mile walk, 8 min abs
Friday: 3 mile walk, 8 min abs
Saturday: 1 mile walk, 8 min abs
Sunday: 1 mile walk, 8 min abs.

Well I don't pretend to be an expert but I would imagine that if you allow yourself a treat now and then it would be easier to stick to it!
    Good luck!

Water doesn't count as a snack. Faerie is right, you should allow yourself the occasional treat. Like replace one "water snack" with a digestive biscuit or something.

ya i agree if you dont allow urself a nice snack youll cave in.

im 21, 5f 8 and 9 and a half stone at present i was 10 and a half stone three months ago.

i took up swimming and walk every day for bout 2miles, i do excercise bike and air walker for 10 mins daily and abs for 5mins.

rather than sitting down i tell myself potter about the house or walk in the garden/ clean up the place all activities burn calories.

have a balanced and healthy diet with a hint of reality: eveyone needs a snack noe and again

    then ul see rresults

best of luck with it and remain positive and confident that u can loose the weight then ul suceed more than ud have imagined

    Hey VintageGlamour,

It's great that you're motivated to improve your lifestyle. There are a couple of things that could use improvement.

First off losing two pounds a week while possible, isn;t always advisable. Some of that may be lean muscle tissue and water - both of which you need to increase your metabolism, your fat burning furnace. Perhaps, just a pound is enough?

Secondly you're actually not eating enough and relying too heavily on fluid based foods.

If you don't eat enough caloires your body goes into a starvation mode where you horde your fat! You get fatter! Its also important to choose your foods carefully.

As regards the fluids - its great an all but shakes and smoothies have a much lower thermaic effect, and as such burn fewer calories to digest them.

    Pm me your email address.

I'll send you a two week meal template to get you started on the right track. Same thing I do for all my personal training clients.

Finally you NEED TO lift lots of weights and adjust you cardio work. So, I'll do up a workout program for you as well.

If you dont eat at regular intervals your body will store the extra fat in case of an emergency i.e. starving yourself..

Eat small regular meals throughout the day, plenty for vegetables, salald, protein and drink water throughout the day. not just as a snack...

Weight loss takes time.. you didnt put on weight overnight.. your not going to loose it overnight either..

Eating regular meals every 2.5-3 hours is very helpful, as it speeds up the metabolism. That said the best reason is that protein is only in the bloodstream for about 2.5 - 3 hours, 4 at the most. After that your body starts to break down muscle tissue for its protein sources and we don't want that as its metabolically active tissue that burns calories!

Maybe i'm missing something - but there's no protein at all in your diet.

I suspect you're going to lose a lot of muscle with this schedule

He neglected to tell us what his dinner actually is so perhaps the answer lies therein...

Still lasting the whole day till dinner in the evening with no protein is a tricky way to live for several months
By the way I think the OP is a lady - 130lbs wt. target. It seems likely

Good job on drinking lots of water. A trick to burn more calories is to drink ice-cold water as this will burn calories just heating the water to body temperature, every calorie burned counts!

You do need to completely avoid alcohol if you are serious about losing the weight, so bear that in mind if you are anywhere near a pub!

    !

A good one - if you drink a pint of ice water you'll burn 20kcals heating it up to body temp..
Drink 20 gallons and you'll lose 1 lb of weight! Why not?

Yep, all in one sitting! Hee hee, sarcasm is such fun :D

Obviously, I wouldn't recommend that but by drinking 2 litres of ice-cold water a day you stand to burn about 100Kcals a day i.e. about 700 a week (2800 a month!). It does add up over time and supplements calorie loss through good cardio and diet control!

    Hey VintageGlamour

I'm not convinced with your exercise regime. Try to do fewer, but longer walks. I presume you're walking 3 miles in less than 20 minutes. Aim for walks longer than 40minutes - less than that & you're unlikely to be hitting into your fat reserves.

It seems like your starving yourself a little too much - your body will just learn to build up fat reserves when it eventually gets food.

as fantastic and easily achievable drinking 2L of ice-cold water a day is  there is a grain of truth there.

First thing in the morning a glass of ice cold water is a reasonably effective way of kick-starting the metabolism. And probably easier to accomplish than keeping a cooler full of ice at your feet to accomodate your Evian ;)

OP, eat more. you starve yourself, your body stores fat. honestly, its that simple. And btw, water doesn't count as a snack- it has no calories. a snack is something that provides your body with fuel, and as fabulicious and multi-functional as water is, it will not provide energy. Allows your body to use energy efficiently though.

Get some starchy carbs in at breakfast. Your body will have no problem burning them off over the course of the day.

Erm, it is easily achievable, I do it! It took a while to build up to without, *cough*, relieving oneself every five minutes ;)

Maybe I'm lucky in that where I work we have a water cooler, that keeps the water...ice-cold. Also at home I have a remarkable appliance called a refrigerator and it too keeps water cold so I don't need a cooler full of ice at my feet, at work or at home ;):D

Everything else g'em says is spot on (as is always the case for her posts!!).

ah you see, that's where we're different. My office isn't nearly fancy enough to have one of your fandangled so-called "water coolers" so I have to make do with water at room temperature. Which is, as an aside, more easily absorbed by the body so it's not all bad. And to burn calories I exercise. Traditional as it sounds, I've found it works wonders :p
