    Is this a good way of improving your fitness and losing your weight?

    Its a good way of testing/detecting your level of fitness.

    I suppose if you did them at consistent intervals (ie. every month or every 2 months) and used it as incentive - ie i want to beat my previous score next time, then it would help you get fitter.

    actually called bleep tests! (i think!) anyway bleep tests are just a way of measuring fitness and nothing else but they will give you an exhausting workout in the process of assessing your fitness levels.
