extremely good for you. lb for lb it has a slightly lower protein content than tuna, but its still complete protein and stacked full of good fats. also high in many of the B vitamins and selenium

Funny I was going to mention this, I'd imagine the fresh wild kind would be better. Generally farmed animals are subjected to unhealthy drugs/steriods and unnatural foods to keep them big and fleshy.

This is just my guess but I'd say stick to the wild type if you can

yeah, sort of. farmed salmon contains things called PCB's or chemicals that are have no known natural sources at levels up to 10 times more than wild salmon. These compounds have been found to be mildy carcinogenic and in 2004 the journal Science recommended eating farmed salon no more often than once a month. But if you trim the fat and teh skin (where the PCB's are usually stored) its fine to eat. personally I'd probably eat it 2-3 times a month.

thanks guys. So go easy on the farmed salmon but the wild salmon...ok to eat a good bit more and also...where can you get it (wild salmon) ? Supermarkets ?

you can generally get it from good fishmongers or a supermarket with a good fish counter, or even some of the farmers' markets. just make sure you ask when you buy

I think fresh salmon is sessional so it can be hard to find at certain times of the year

u can get fresh salmon from a tin all the time though, I eat a lot of the Canadan fresh salmon from a tin (think the brand is Roys or something) for things like lunch with a salad
