I was walking past Connolly Station this morning and was minding my own business and you'll never guess who I laid eyes on but only board’s cutest couple IMO

    Sillysausage* and Connundrum

*(formerly audge now banned for ever)

Cute in real life and not just on their pics
But this experience was a bit surreal to say the least
Have you ever walked down the road and spotted a fellow boardsie like Cormie or tbh :D

I don't go in the view of the public, sorry:p

So did you stop and say hi or just keep to yourself?

Short of a t-shirt saying coolsmileygirl....how would I know? And don't say the know your nerds thread because anyone who can remember people in the real world based on those pictures shouldn't be trusted.

I often see people who look like they're probably boardsters...does that count?

Ahhh quite right. Best stick to the old fashioned peering through the bookshelves.

Back on topic I think I saw monkeyfudge one day when he had that big beard.

    Never!

I have seen some indeed, usually I kind of know them so I say hi.

Altough this can go badly, a boardsie thought he saw me. He went over and said 'Tar.Aldarion' isn't it.' etc. The person and the group of friends must have thought he had seven heads from the stares I heard he got. :)

Aye, he was a bit shaken. He thought he saw simu then in a coffee shop and he didn't say hello. He PM'ed saying sorry. It wasn't her either. I think he has given up being friendly. :)

Aside from the people I already know that use boards, I spotted the_syco one time in town. I was walking down O'Connell street, looked across the road and said to myself "holy shít, it's the_syco!". Confirmed the next day when I read the Slayer gig review thread.

^^ I bump into Father Time above every once in a while...

If anyone actually recognized me on the street from my 'know your nerds' photo, I'd be worried about that person (and consequently would not want them anywhere near me).

I'm in a computer room with Syth and Kevok now, and the evil lime is on the Gamesoc committee too so I see him quite a bit too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,112 ✭✭✭Blowfish

I'm in another computer lab (prob actually same building as rainbow kirby) with two more, but about a week ago, I spotted someone in here on boards who I didn't recognise, but he left after about 5 mins, and I was too busy to say hi

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,578 ✭✭✭Scraggs

I got recognised at a party one time as I walked into the room 2 boardsies shouted 'SCRAAAAGGGS' and one 'its the girl from the internet'. I felt so popular despite the looks nonboardsies were giving me!

I've met some of the UCD boardsies around the place without actually knowing what they looked like beforehand ..I kinda have a gift I can spot one a mile off!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I saw Lemming outside the UGC / Cineworld cinema once... he was going to see Underworld 2... or whatever it was called...

I've passed eo980 a couple of times on the street... he wears really big headphones.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

Sometimes people look oddly familiar. Don't think I've spotted any boardsies though really, except people I'd met before (like sutty and doodee).

lucky u dont actually go to Carlow IT then. 'SCRAAAAGGGS' gets shouted, i reckon, around a few million times a day!

actually, i see the majority of the carlow boardsters daily when im in college. kinda know pretty much all them. plus, i look in the mirror a lot and any shiny surface i come across, like a shop window or old ladys glasses, and see myself all the time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,049 ✭✭✭✭murphaph

I see some in work but that doesn't count, so no, never recognised anyone from the know your nerds thread. I just realised that nobody would know me either :( so I just uploaded a pic :)

As many people have said, people often strike you as possible boardsies. But my thing is every time I'm at a big event, say a gig, or anything where there is a large group of people, I want to scream BOARDS!! and see who replies :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,893 ✭✭✭The_B_Man

ye except u'll probably get talkin to the people, then u'll have to make friends, then u have to be nice to them on boards. too much effort. plus u then feel guilty for givin them abuse!

i'd possibly not tell someone i was on boards if they asked, and were a stranger, coz otherwise i'd have me real name and picture up in me sig!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,458 ✭✭✭CathyMoran

I've met people at the Beers, in work, on the street, my partner smccarrick is a Boardsie and recently I found out that my first cousin once removed (my cousins kid) is on Boards (via Know Your Nerds).
