OK I exaggerate, but I am becoming increasingly worried by all the things I am reading on the internet about the dangers of soy. I have soy milk every day and have tofu about 4 times a week!!

What do you guys think about it? Is soy in moderation ok and if so, what quantities? Do any of you have any experience of the negative effects of soy??

I think a bit of tofu won't do any harm, the problem starts once people start having soy milk, tofu hotdogs, soy protein powder, soy enriched everything...

An adult female, I would imagine has the least to fear from these, but certaintly pregnant women*, men and children would do well to avoid eating too much soya based foods until more is known about them.

*High soy intake has been implicated in the increased levels of boys born with hyospadias to vegetarian mothers. You will also find many less reputable sources for the potential dangers of soy.

The thing that probably annoys me the most is when I see soy based baby formula. Given the evidence that is emerging, I think that that practice needs to be stamped out asap. Apart from which, babies need high fat, high cholesterol diets in their first months.
