    Hi,
I have noticed that i am starting to put on a bit of weight recently. I wouldnt call myself fat but i am a bit chubby. I dont know whats causing the weight increase as i havnt really changed my eating habits(possibly stopped growing, im 19).

Im 5'11'' and weighed 78kgs last time i checked. I generally try to eat healthily but theres the odd take away and being a college student theres plenty of drinking going on.
    Usually my eating habits are:
Breakfast(between 7 and 8 depending on the day): 3 weetabix and full fat milk
Lunch(11 or 12): White roll with chicken and salad
Second Lunch!(between 4 and 6): brown bread ham sandwiches, 2 bits of fruit and maybe one of those lidl muesli bars
Dinner(usually late after i come home from college, 9 or 10): Can be anything but theres always a bit of veg and meat

Theres usually a pack of popcorn thrown in somewhere too.

I am fairly active and train twice a week(Gaa) with a match at the weekends. I also have a weight bench at home(barbell, leg extension, lat pull down) as well as an exercise bike and dumbells but these were bought a while back(i tore my cruciate ligament and needed this stuff for the rehab) and arent used much(im trying to change this!)

I guess what i want is to lose some of the weight and add a bit more muscle(im fairly well built already)

Any suggestions as to how I could do this? Particularly utilising the equipment i already have?
Is my diet ok or should i change it?
    Thanks in advance

    There's your problem.

Try not have carbs after seven and eat more lean meat and you should be fine.

As a college student myself, i understand the "plenty of drinking going on". Its a necessary part of student life - you can still enjoy a few (or lot of) pints and still be in shape (unless you're looking for 4-8% body fat which i assume you're not!).

Firstly, if you want to build muscle, you need more equipment than you currently have - my advise would be to join a gym (The college gyms are fairly cheap to join) and go 3 times a weeks and do a split program. My suggested 3 day split would be: chest & biceps, back and triceps, shoulders & legs. There are different splits that people do that are equally good.

Your diet seems fairly good and 78kg (about 12st 3lbs) is a decent weight for your height. If you really want to get the diet spot on, id advise porridge in the mornin instead of weetabix, and id say ditch the white bread roll and eat whole meal (McCambridge bread) instead of pan bread for your sandwich.

I wouldnt worry about the ocassional chipper or the booze too much - once your normal daily diet is good and you hit the weights room 3 times a week, you should put on some lean muscle and after a few weeks you should look bigger and more toned.

Is it possible to work from home though? Like for those not able to access the gym so easily. Sorry for the hijacking but it's relevant.

I had a browse through the fitness links sticky and there seems to be plenty of exercises i can do with the equipment, certainly enough to get me started anyway. If i was to add one more piece of equipment to my collection what would you recommend? I only have a straight bar, would a curl bar be worth it?
    Thanks for all the replies
