I'm doing weights at home using a basic York steel set, the 70kg one. I need to buy two 20kg discs but I'm not sure where to get them. I got some extra plates in a martial arts shop off Abbey street a number of years ago. Does anyone know if that shop is still there or where I could similar discs?

make sure you get the right diameter plates!!! i assume you mean plates for the 2.5cm bars, nothing worse then getting ones that don't fit!!

i got the argos ones before and they're fine

    Thanks guys,

Those cast iron ones look like the type I'm looking for. I was concerned about the diameter so wanted to get the same as what I currently have. I couldn't see any 20kg plates on the Argos site unfortunately. As well as the extra weight I was looking for larger plates to make the range of motion for deadlifts a little less! :D Has anyone bought or seen that size plate recently?

The 10kg cast iron plates in Argos are by far the best value plates on the market. 22.99 for 2 x 10 kg plates. You'd pay around 40 euros (2 euro per kg) anywhere else. The plates are fine and will fit any 2.5 cm bar.

If you want plates bigger than 10 kg argos are no good you'll need to try JJB, Elvery's, VJs, Star or Workout world. I have a two 20 kg Elvery's plates which cost around 80 euros and one 25 kg Olympus plate from VJs which cost 50 euros. 2 euros per kg remember. 15 kg plates are also available.

Also pay attention to the shape of the plates. the Gold's Gym plates in JJB Sports have quite sharp edges, most of the other types have rounded edges which i prefer

I'll sell you two 20kg 1" (2.5 cm) York cast iron plates for 50euro if you want?
They are the biggest diameter 1" plates I've seen which is why I would sell them, they are awkward for skull crushers on an ez curl bar but perfect for deadlifting.
They are in my gym in north frederick st if you want a look.

Star fitness in Arnotts sell them. They sell full olympic sets for 299. Olympic weights on their own are 2euro per kilo.
