Gym in city centre

    Hi all,

Apologies if this is a standard "we discussed this last week" post, i've read the sticky and didn't give much info

I was recently had a number of health problems and been on steroids, and i've put on a bit of weight to the point where I'm thinking I really must do something about this.

I am looking to join a gym in Dublin city centre as i cross the city to and from work. The question is which one? I am not looking for anything fancy, I'm not looking to become a body builder or anything, I really just need to loose weight and get fit, so running cycling rowing machines are what I'm looking for rather than weights and stuff.

So can anyone recommend a good all round not too expensive gym in city centre? Its such a price to pay I don't want to make a decision I'll regret.

    Thanks for the help

Quick question, what we the health problems and the steroids you were put on to combat them?

Without too much of a long story, I was diagnosed with a mild form of Crohns desease a few months ago. On steroids short term to combat it (coming off them next week) and going onto mild treatment of immunio-suppressents to combat it long term (about a year).

So I've never been the fittest person in the world, but this whole experience has motivated me to really getting my diet and fitness levels sorted out. So, along with changing my diet (cutting down on carbs, sugar, salt, process flour etc and eating more veg, fruit, fish etc) I need to lose a bit of weight and increase my fitness levels.

So I'm doing this for fitness rather than body building. I'm not interested in complex bulk building plans or having the perfect body, and not that bothered about paying for a gym with features coming out of its nose that I will never use.

Riverside gym beside the Abbey Theatre is grand. €50 per month, has all the basics. The staff are very nice and it's never teeming like some other gyms so you don't have to queue to use the equipment.

Yeah my housemate recommended Riverside too, she has heard good things.

Might pop into day and check it out. Cheers :)
