Listen mate, enough of your crap. Your idea of live punk music is absolute bollocks, most likely guided by your monetary interest in said events. We don't want to hear about it. Politely **** off and stop spouting this ****e, we're not interested.

    All the best. :)

Fpr people who'd like to find out about good punk gigs where some bloke's not trying to pocket the door tax...

Well Frank I like The Buzzcocks esp when Howard Devoto was with them but in no way will I go to that **** venue, if The Buzzcocks were proper Punks they would play 2-3 nights in The Voodoo.

omg, this whole wats punk and wat isnt is pure crap, if you dont like a band dont go out of your way to try and put down sumone who does like them, none of you know wat punk is, its about doing ur own thing, and theres no such thing as a pure punk, i cant be defined like that, if u dont like the buzzcocks, y would u cum into a thread like this and say you dont like them, anyone who leads a punk kife shouldnt care so ur post is just useless, just grow the **** up already, punk is whatever you make it but one thing its not is a genre, dont put bands in genres, its a ****in joke the way you carry on, a band plays music if u dont like then thats ur problem, and for **** sake dont be ashamed of liking a band,

the buzzcocks, are great, i missed the show but im sure it was great

It's not really crap at all when someone advertises a deftones show. Whether buzzcocks is questionable or not is a different story but the stuff he has posted is blatently not punk.

So what are you saying here? Noone can define what punk is and then you go on to define punk as "not giving a **** what people think" which is a quote you're likely to find on an Avril Lavigne album among other's. Punk is only a genre of music and everything else is a spin off it so I believe it is you who is a bit mixed up to be honest.

im not saying that but when people go out of their way to put someone down cos of teir taste its stupid, punk cant be defined by one person, cos its about doing ur own thing, apart ofpunk is not caring about wat others think but thats not me trying to define thats just a part of the whole attitude

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 561 ✭✭✭Anarchist

No Keith what we were getting at was continous pushing of non Punk gigs, this is a Punk forum, there are other forums for diff music.
I like the Buzzcocks if u had have read my reply properly what I am against is **** venues....
And Frank 900 bodies? Plenty of money made for the "promoter" so.
I still say 2 nights in the voodoo would have added more to their credibility but at this stage of their career it's all about money and making it in as much a small time as possible.
Like I said Buzzcocks were at their peak between 76-79

yrt again thats the attitude not the genre,i'm sure if there is a problem google 'what genre is x band' saves everyone alot a hassle. i think alot of people have issues with pop punk, it always turns nasty with pop punk, its still punk so it should go here, if ya dont like a thread theres no need to say it, let it slide you angry angry people

Folks I would like to clear something up here - I AM NOT A PROMOTER, I am a music loving gig-aholic who posts on upcoming shows that take place round Ireland. Buzzcocks was a Village / Whelans show, GAMAK was same, The Beat was Toxic etc etc, there are a variety of different promoters envolved in the shows I mention - I pay in like everyone else and do not proffer from them, end of story. I can't disagree with your read on Buzzcocks, Voodoo V Village, but this is a pension tour and who knows how many more times they will play in Ireland. Bottomline it was a great gig; Sixteen Again / Fiction Romance / Ever Fallin In Love / Harmony in my Head / Orgasm Addict etc etc

I'd like to put my hands up in the air and say that I was at GAMAK in Whelans and I'll be seein them again Friday in Galway. I think everyone should just come into the channel and get this over and done with tbh.

Pop punk is wrongfully named. The word punk shouldnt be included into it whatsoever because it's not punk!

    how is it wrongly named?

Punk bands often emulate the approach of sixties garage rock bands. Punk rock emphasizes simple musical structures and arrangements. The early UK punk fanzine Sniffin' Glue in 1977 famously included drawings of three chord shapes captioned, "This is a chord, this is another, this is a third. Now form a band". Most punk songs have a verse-chorus structure and 4/4 time. Short songs are also a staple of punk rock. Songs are normally about three minutes in length, but sometimes are as brief as ninety seconds. Punk rock usually has fast tempos, especially hardcore punk.

i got that from wikipedia, i think thatsa good definition of punk MUSIC, as for the ideology...

Punk ideology is made up of a combination of politics, aesthetics and ethics. Though punk politics cover the entire political spectrum, many punks espouse left-wing or progressive views, and punks often participate in political protests for local or national change. Some common trends in punk politics include anti-authoritarianism, anti-militarism, anti-capitalism, anti-racism, anti-nationalism, environmentalism, vegetarianism, veganism, and animal rights. Punk aesthetics determine the type of art punks enjoy, which is usually underground in origin with minimalistic, iconoclastic and satirical sensibilities. Punks enjoy art which makes strong political statements, preferably using humor, irony or sarcasm. Punks are fans of decadence in art. Punk ethics include the radical rejection of mainstream conformity, living according to the DIY (Do It Yourself) ethic, taking direct action for political change, and not selling out to mainstream interests for personal gain..

there is a difference between the two, although both are connected.

if we are gonna move into ideology should this forum really be under the music heading... I think not
