I,m just saying just because you have so many posts does'nt automatically entitle you to become a moderator , at least a cursory knowledge would come in handy

what makes you think my post count got me moderator for the south east??
you wont even know i'm here most of the time

I'm just saying thats all , there are more suitable posters with a good knowledge of Waterford , I mean if you are moderator for the South East what do you know about Kilkenny ?
Anyway I will be finding out from an admin what you did to deserve being made moderator for Waterford

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

    Mike.

On what grounds should he be banned for. He is only giving his opinion on this.

I would also tent to agree that Mossy is a bad choice to be a mod in this forum. I find him top class in the ICDG forum but here he does not have the knowledge. If I had of known that there was a mod position becoming available in this forum, I would have suggested "merlante" as a candidate for the position.

I feel that he has given this forum an awlful lot since I have been on here. There are indeed others whom also contribute as much, but his comments tend to jump out that bit more.

Just out of curiosity Mossy/Mike, who decided on Mossy.

I also disagree with Mossy as my moderator, I doubt he could find his way from the Bowery to Rubys.

What are you doing here, are you following me?

I gave up cos I want to spend less time trawling boards. I had 4 Motors + 2 Motors For Sale/Wanted + Astronomy + South-East/Kilkenny and Waterford which was more than enough.

As for Mossy getting the gig its cos he is an old timer and not likely to get carried away with a power rush. There are one or who who might have. Some ppl make great posters but lousy Mods. If you don't like it then use feedback.

    Mike.

ps it does'nt matter a damn if Mossy can't find his way from Rice Bridge to Peoples Park or anywhere else.

As I said, I think Mossy is good at what he does in the ICDG forum but imo I think that to be a mod of a section, you have to have first off a good knowledge of the topic and also be a good contributor to the section.

Take you for example Mike, I am assuming that you love anything to do with motors and you are a mod there and rightly so.

In Mossy's case I think he should have been considered a mod is the Television forum. He has plenty of posts in there and he has a good interest there. Thats just my point.

I have absolutely nothing against him and have no doubt he will do his very best here.

I know it is, and I am sorry, but I am making a stand, I have many supporters, just check the link in my sig to check that out.,
In liberating the lazy, there will always be the hyper-energetic who will react similar to you, I apologise to you, but refuse to give up on them.

why oh why do people feel that a person needs to have a taxi drivers knowledge to moderate a board. i am a moderator people, not the tourist information board. do you have any idea what the purpose of a moderator is? looking at the replies to this thread i don't think that is the case. this thread has descended into nothing more than a joke. if you have any problems with me being the moderator here then as earlier suggested talk to an admin. this has gotten boring very fast

So tell me what does a mod do? I am very interested because from what I see of some of your posts all you do is contribute with one word replies

That is one of the most irational posts I have ever seen, of course a moderator of a particular forum should have some sort of interest/knowledge of that subject.
It just makes sense, It is a sad day when the posters of this forum can no longer relate to their moderator, and yes I shall make a formal complaint, would it be better in feedback, or as a pm to an admin?

    (FTL;"I completely disagree")

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,227 ✭✭✭✭Sparky

I agree with Mossy. You don't have to have superior knowledge of a certain subject to moderate a forum.

Moderators have one job at heart, and that is to moderate posts. If a user starts getting rowdy and posting abusive links etc, thats where Mossy works best.

For what people are saying here, your judgements should apply to the Cmods and Smods also, im sure most of them hav'nt a clue about waterford etc, but never the less, they can moderate it.

There will be times when a mod will be needed to nuke a post fast, and Mossy will be there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

when a thread, like this one moves to be nothing more than what it is now (pointless moaning) then it is the job of the moderator to close said thread. when someone is acting like a muppet then it is the job of the moderator to deal with them when they go too far. when you want to find out about a locality or ask a question about it, then post a new thread/reply to an old one. as i mentioned in my previous post it i am not meant to be here to answer every question but to keep it running smoothly

Well made post there Sparky and you hit the nail on the head with the opening line where you refer to having superior Knowlede of the subject. No one expects him to have superior knowledge but some knowledge would be an advantage.

Best of luck in the new job Mossie.

Any chance of closing this thread and site banning the annoying FTL boy?

I can sleep easy then knowing the strong arm of the law is in town on the Waterford board.

Whenever I have seen a post by Mossy Monk, it has always been knowledgeable, clear and to the point. He never seems to stray off the topic. Is the South East going to collapse now? I don't think so. Why not welcome him instead of questioning his ability to do the job?

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,089 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

Right lets get this thread back on topic.

Mossy welcome to the Southeast forum. I hope your term as mod is a successful one and if you need and advice and any aspects of our beautiful city feel free to ask. There are plenty of knowledgeable people on this forum everyday.

    Good luck
