Whos the Fittest Boardster?

Don't worry, this isn't another thread discussing the merits of sillysausages funbags or cormies amazing transformation from fatty duck to handsome duck. This thread wonders who amongst us fall into the stereotypical modern day internet user profile of lazy good for nothing unhealthy slobs.

Pigheads not at all fit, my diet is woeful. I don't participate in sports anymore. The closest I get to a gym is when I pass it on the way to Eddie Rockets in Phibsboro. I'm a skinny fcuker but that'll change when i hit my 30's and the belly finally pops.

Sometimes I take notions and eat healthily for 3 days and go for powerwalks.I've taken to doing starjumps in the morning and sometimes I actually enjoy them if the right songs on the radio.
This morning it was up down up down, then the other sock.

Anyway just wondering who on the board excercises and if so how many hours a week.

I used to go to the gym four times a week for about three hours a time. That ended when I broke my ribs on new years and i've yet to return.
I am most certainly not the fittest boardster.
I will get back into it though...some day...

    Great thread title :D

I don't really do gym work, but my job usually involves me in lifting heavy things, running up and down stairs and climbing ladders.

I walk/intermittently run for an hour a day, 5 days a week. and do some weights the odd time. T'is plenty methinks. Diet's not the best though, partial to pizza and that. I feel reasonably fit even so, probabaly more exercise than many get I imagine. Don't they recommend 20mins a day minimum?

I play footie for my club and college - that's 4 training sessions a week and 2 games and I'm still not fit  :o:D:confused:

I can't see the OP since I've blocked Pighead, but here goes anyway.
I do absolutely no exercise at all. I don't seem to suffer too much from that and I'm not at all fat. I'll start doing some when I am, maybe.
Of course I get quite breathless if I ever have to run, like or a bus, but it's irregular enough for me not to worry.

Aside from walking to and from the busstops in UCD and near my home, nada.

Haven't played football in about 6 months now, that was the last proper exercise, and even then the manager only ever played me for 45 mins cos it was understood that my lungs would collapse at that stage... It was always slightly amusing tho, being subbed off at half time and instantly sparking up a cigarette... Go on da lads!!!

Not too many fitties so far, Pigheads gonna give Pythia the award for most unhealthiest unfittest boardster so far purely because i'm on her ignore and she'll never know.
I think as people approach their late 20's early 30's they make a last ditch effort for all things fit and healthy as the thoughts of heartattacks and wheezy chests start to scare them. More often than not however these last ditch efforts are abandoned and the "ah sure fcuk it" attitude comes into play.

i go to the gym between 4-6 times a week walk loads and cycle to and from the gym was doing boxing till recently when i hurt my ankle also go for a jog every now and again when the mood takes me and i tend to lift weights at home too a few times a week to supplement my lifting in the gym and i my diet isnt too bad either

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,480 ✭✭✭projectmayhem

the most excercise i get is typing and walking (a lot, everyday). i intend to join a gym but finance and time don't agree with the sentiment

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 6,376 Mod ✭✭✭✭Macha

I go to gym 3-4 times / week, cycle 10km a day to work & back, then cycle to gym!

But Im sure there are a few Fitness Board posters that do a wee bit more than that ;)

It's only one click away and it helps to know what the thread is about before responding!

I do weights 3 times a week and also a 45-60 walk a few times a week. I am not the fittest boardster.

Edit : Yup, Pythia's been added to my ignore list and her post is only a click away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,505 ✭✭✭irlirishkev

I walk everywhere, including 45minutes in the morning to work, and 45minutes home every day.

I go to the gym 3 times a week, where I run between 5k and 10k, followed by 45mins of weights.

I'm fit, but certain elements of my diet, and the ever present boozy weekends let me down..

    K.

pfft.. here's where the real fitties start showing off ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,407 ✭✭✭✭justsomebloke

ye over the last few years well around 5 years i have been slowly dropping (and every so often regaining weight) and am now around 12 3/4 stone down from 16 and a half. still working off the last of my chubby belly though

I generally go to the gym 3-4 times a week for just over an hour and then 2-3 stint on saturday and then walk roughly 8-9km round trip to work every day

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,497 ✭✭✭✭Dragan

Eat healthy every meal of the week bar one cheat meal normally on a Friday or Saturday night, go to the gym twice a day on weekdays, once of Saturday and rest on Sunday.

I'm slowly on the rise to being quite healthy. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,111 ✭✭✭joker77

    Cycle 12 miles 3-4 days a week (6 miles to/from work)
Football train 1.5 hours twice a week (Tues/Thurs eve)
Indoor football 1 hour once a week (Wed or Fri lunch)
Football match 1.5 hour on Saturday (if i'm picked!)
Gym (weights) 45 minutes 4 times a week (lunchtimes)

Fairly fit, need to keep that up for 6 months without injuries to reach a peak I reckon, am nearly halfway there

I'd say I'm fitter than your average 17 year old. 6'1 and 11 and a half stone, so normal for age group.

Walk and cycle everywhere; minimum wage does not equal car or bike :(

For last few months have been doing early morning runs before school, between four and five kms (except when lashing rain).
Then walking another km to school.

Eat healthy enough, starting to get into these protein shakes (not substituting normal healthy meals) and all that.

Used to play rugby 4 days a week but now down to once a week and match on Saturday. Do boxing now to make up for lack of rugby.

Canoe or swim at least once a week and lift weights 3 days a week.

    That's about it.

edit: Oh yeah, and I do athletics once in a while with club (400m/100m/1500m)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 247 ✭✭because_I_can

you train possibly 10x a week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,945 ✭✭✭D-Generate

    Gym (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)
Exercise at home (Wednesday and Friday)
    Rest (Sunday)

Also am somewhat addicted to doing pressups so i end up doign those whenever i'm a little bored no matter where i might be.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,251 ✭✭✭AngryBadger

I do weights at least twice a week, and go jogging/rowing twice a week, plus I generally walk everywhere :D

Hey, it's the only way i can fill out those Superman tights and lift the Laydees

Go to the gym 4-5 times a week with 45 mins - 1 hour intense weights sessions. Not particularly fit but strong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭connundrum

As you might notice from my location, je me suis une fat bastard :D But it annoys me cos I used to be really good. When I was 13, 14 and 15 I'd be swimming training 3-4 times a week, in the gym at least once with either a gala or football game at the weekends. Then I broke loads of stuff and just didn't get back into the swing of things.

But I've recently turned a corner and joined a gym (I want to be going at least 3 times a week) and I'm gonna start swimming again.

My target isn't weightloss, but if I can hit the times I was hitting for 50m frontcrawl when I was 15 (24-25 seconds) then I'd be well happy :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 401 ✭✭Julesie

Im certainly better now than i was fitness wise. For the last 6 months ive been doing.

Monday - Step Aerobics (v. intense) - Chest and Tricep Workout

    Tuesday - Game of Squash

Wednesday - Step Aerobics - Squash Training

Thursday - Game of Squash - Yoga Class

Friday - Back and Bicep Workout

Saturday - 20 mile cycle (weather permitting)

Sunday - Legs and Shoulders workout

I also cleaned up my diet and have lost about a stone, down from over 10 stone to a leaner 9 stone. Despite quite a high level of activity during the week i feel like i have more energy now than i ever did as a couch potato

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

I go to the gym about 4 times a week, sometimes more always at least 3, about once a month i go 5/6 times a week. I do HIIT 3 times a week. I play 5 a side football on average of once a week....sometimes 2/3 session in the one week but depends. I am very fit. Obviously I could be fitter...and that's why I love the gym because you keep pushing yourself!
