What am I doing wrong?

Hi guys I was hoping you could help me on this one.

I am away travelling at the moment. I spent 2 months 'on the road' eating out and drinking a lot and have put on a good bit of weight, mostly around my stomach.
At home I would say Im slim enough and dont put on weight too easy so this is new to me. Ive been stopped now here in the one place for over 2 months, and trying desperately to get myself back into shape. I joined a gym 6 weeks ago where I go about 4 times a week for 40mins to 1 hour. Ive also been doing up to 100 sit ups most days.

I know weight loss has to do so much with my diet. I dont eat breakfast -I know I should, some mornings I might have a smoothie but usually Im in a hurry. How important is this regards loosing weight?
For lunch usually I would have some sushi or a tuna wrap.
I dont drink that much water -maybe only 3 glasses a day. Same question- how imoprtant is this?
Dinner would usually be pasta with chicken/ tuna/ mince in some sauce (ready-made jars- are these very bad for me?), sometimes stir fry, once every 2 weeks I would probably eat out or order pizza.

As Im away travelling there is quite a lot of drinking being done! I drink about 3 nights a week and maybe have half a bottle of wine with dinner during the week.

Ive cut out milk and white bread from my diet. Also cut down on cheese (which I really love) I eat very little sweets/choc/crisps/fizzy drinks now and rarely snack through the day.

Can you please give me some pointers as the weight is not shifting - what am I doing right/ wrong? As I said earlier in the post I never had a problem with my weight before even though I rarely excersised at home so I need some good advice.

    Thanks in advance.

    Okay you need to

    a) eat breakfast, it's very important to get amino acids and glycogen stores back up first thing in the morning. eggs and oatmeal for preference.
    b) try and eat several small meals throughout the day, this will keep your metabolism humming.
    c) lean meats, fresh fruit and veg should make up a lot of your diet.
    d) Cut down on the booze, you looking at a lot of calories for no nutritional benefit.

You already know what your doing wrong, because you were questioning this behaviour in your post yourself.

You just have to make the choice now between what is hard ( getting slimmer ) and what is easy ( not )

Cut out the carbs in the evening, seriously. Pasta's not a great option at the best of times, IMO, cause it doesn't keep you full for very long. But it's a really bad idea in the evenings, because you're just not going to use up the energy it's giving you. If you're going to eat pasta, have it for lunch.
Try chicken with loads of veg, or fish with loads of veg for dinner. This will make a difference, promise.
Also, I really don't think there's any need to cut out milk. It has a lot of nutritional value, and milk is not what's putting the weight on. Go for a semi-skimmed version, so it's not like water.
And, obviously, have breakfast. No excuses with time. Get up 10 minutes earlier.
I have a bottle of water near me all day, which I just keep refilling. I've no idea how much I drink because I just take little sips throughout the day, but this way you don't notice drinking loads. Nothing worse than trying to down a big pint of water in one go. Already today I've gone through about a litre with just my little sips.

    :)

Once again this depends entirely on when you go to the gym.
