It all depends on what you're looking to do - If you just feel the insatiable need for a presence online perchance you shuffle off this mortal coil tomorrow then go for a full on website detailing your greatness.

Bebo is great for kids who want to have a laugh and not waste their credit. It is also useful if you have many friends outside of Ireland who due to cost/time zone etc it is difficult to keep in contact with.

Basically all of these sites are whatever you want them to be - communication tool/ego stroker/grooming area:D /whatever.

But again, you're 24. No self respecting 24 year old would use bebo.

    Haha - I'm also 24 and I use Bebo.

Hi Group - My name is darren and.. I ... (It's OK Darren, just say it)... I'm a Bebo user. I guess it started when some of my friends were using Bebo at this party one night and... Well it seemed all cool and stuff but soon I wasn't just using at parties. It became something I'd do at home. Then I was missing days in work just waiting for a comment on one of my pictures. Finally I sold a kidney online to upgrade my account. That was when I found you guys.

    Ah its cool. :-)
LOL! Wasnt meaning to cut anybody as indicated by the little smiley! Barcode is a pub/nightclub near Clontarf in Dublin where a lot of students go on Thursday nights....as I said no offence to anyone who goes there! Its just anytime I was on bebo almost everyone was saying 'cool night in barcode last week' or 'see you in barcode next week' etc....

    **** man...
    Do you know me?

Anyway to answer your question. No, you shouldn't be on Bebo rollereyes, smirkface! Keep what dignity you have left!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39 NoreenMF

I'm 30 and I use Bebo - it's good for keeping in touch with my friends and family as I don't live in Ireland anymore.

And it's something to do on the net when I'm REALLY, REALLY bored...

Don't let silly people put you off something that you might enjoy!

So people who use bebo have no dignity??? I dunno....theres a few people who use bebo who'll read that and will have their doubts....As for me...maybe you're right, maybe it is embarassing for a 24 year old to use it. Didnt know people were so anti-bebo

Yeah - to be honest I hated all the bebo emails I kept getting but I eventually decided well there seems to be enough people I know using it to warrant a look.

So I sent out bebo emails too (the shame). But hey - once you get that over with it's actually moderately interesting and is a good way to stay in touch with certain circles of friends that you might otherwise never communicate with again.

Im 24 and Im a Bebo user :p

Ok yes I'll admit it I'm on bebo, I joined way back in like november when I got one of those mass invite emails. Normally I wouldn't go near such a site that depended on spam emails to get it's userbase up but I thought that I'd give it a go then forgot completely all about it. Only went on there a few weeks ago to do some investigation.

I just don't get it... it's like a poor man's myspace. MySpace is much better, more community orientated and is a hell of alot more customisable. Bebo on the other hand looks like it was coded by a monkey the site is buggy as feck.

One thing that does annoy me though... it's popularity seems to have sprung up out of nowhere across Dublin. The past two weeks I've heared nothing but conversations about Bebo in Work/College and in passing.

Seriously it's not that bloody good. Bah... hopefully it's a fad... and fads pass really quickly.

I'll second that, the quicker it dies the better.

yes it's possibly the worst coded site in the world. however, it IS a fairly recent site, so i'd assume they'll get round to fixing it at some stage. plus, myspace's "open policy" to making your "space" look the way you want leads to horrendous use of css and javascript on people's pages. restricting that makes life easier.

i don't get that either. i joined because a mate wanted me to fill in some quiz. then a week or two later everyone in college was a member, so i started messing with my account and now everyone in my class, and old buddies i stumbled accross are friends on it. quite handy.

also, apparently bebo is the 4th most visited site in ireland atm

But you can't search bebo, they would have to get fairly lucky to find your page?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,258 ✭✭✭MrVestek

    But you can't search bebo...
Erh, yes you can they've integrated Google search onto their pages now to find profiles...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 488 ✭✭Arathorn

If they have your cv they can search your school and collage for your name as well its not that hard to do

They have to join your school/college, bebo is **** like that. they need a search feature where you into names ans search for them. Bebo is a ****ty version of myspace

Ive heard of that too....there is a way on bebo to allow your photos only to be shown to people you choose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 488 ✭✭Arathorn

It wouldnt be very professional for them to do it, id say smaller organisations might do it, it can give an insight in to what a person is like some of the profiles can get pretty intimate. Oh and I would also like to know what grooming is, it sounds a bit pervy!
